Cap One Quicksilver-CONFUSED!

I have had two Cap One Playinum cards since 2014. In 2015, I missed three payments on each due to being laid off. Since then I haven’t missed a single payment or been late on those or anything else at all. Flash forward to today. My TU score is 676, with EQ and Ex between 640-660. Currently rebuilding since August of this year.

I have never once had an increase on either card since opening in 2014. Today, I login and see the offer to upgrade to the Quicksilver. Not the Quiksilver One. I gladly accept because there is zero benefit to the platinum card. Well it upgraded to the Quiksilver, however I am still at the original $500 limit I was giving in 2014. Essentially all I did was upgrade which I understand entirely, no new acct number, terms etc.

My question is, isn’t the Quicksilver a minimum $1000 credit line? Or is that null and void because I upgraded? Any one have a similar experience? I’ll gladly take the upgrade regardless but I’m just confused I guess. Any input is greatly appreciated Smiley Happy

Shock & awe that after missing 3 pmts they didn't close your cards.. Wow..

I've seen Cap One close cards for much less.. So you were blessed. 

 

There isn't any auto cli when you pc a card so that's normal.

Yay cash back!!  The QS means you'll be earning CB so congrats..

Agreed! I was so lucky. I did pay the total balances off though entirely at the same time as soon as I could and I did make them aware that was my intent. So maybe that helped! Anywho yes I’m grateful for any benefit especially cash back!

A product change is not the same as a new card - actually when it comes to Plat to QS conversions, it’s not even actually a QS, you just earn cash back but it still says Platinum online and on statements. You will still be in the same bucket you were to begin with, you’ll just earn cash back when you use it now. Hopefully they will give you a CLI soon now that they offered you the QS upgrade though.

Hoping for a CLI but I have much better cards now anyways so it’s not pressing, anything is an improvement from Platinum. Cap One is just a strange beast. Can’t get any sort of CLI on my oldest cards but then approved instantly for $6k for Neiman Marcus. Just strange.

Color me silly for asking but...

Have you requested a cli? Or just waiting for an auto increase?

If you requested, what is the reason for denial?

Probably 100 times LOL. It’s always a different reason. “Too many recent inquiries” Literally hadn’t had an inquiry in over 12 months. The last denial was revolving balances too high on bank cards. I keep all my balances WELL below 30%, and typically either 1% or none at all. It’s super frustrating. It’s almost like they have my info from a few years back and haven’t updated. So strange. I even contacted customer service to inform them that The report they were using to decide my CLI off of was over 9 months old. Their response was “We will forward your concerns to the appropriate department”. So I just gave up haha

For sure! They should probably just take away that button from my account at this point so they don’t have to send the denials haha.

LOL @dragontears- figured I better ask, ya never know. 

 

Kara, Ok, just checking.. Just keep using & paying.. Keep your over-all uti down and the cli will come.. Hopefully.

I have a card from Cap One like that, started as a Plat, pc'd to QS. The limit is $4750 now (still low) and it took a LONG time getting there..
