Good card, good rewards. Only drawbacks 3 HPs to get the card and if just starting credit low credit limits.

I think its very under rated card. The three hps is an pain in the butt tho. No FTF card at 1.5% cashback almost everywhere since MC is accpeted almost everyhwere isn't that bad.

Actually, the QS can either be a Visa or MC. Not sure how it's determined which one you get, but there's that.

The QS is a Visa and the QS1 is a MasterCard, unless you PC it from another card.

What does FTF stand for? She has a credit score of  myfico  638. Only has 1 Secured CC Joint with me with a CL of $1,000.00

Personally, unless you have poor credit issues. I do not believe in applying to AF cards.  She could always apply for the Platinum which does not have cash back rewards and PC to the QS.  Not sure what the score requirements would be for the QS.  If she is a student, she could consider the Discover It Student, Journey Student by Cap1 and Barclay's SM.  My daughter had a MyFico score of 661 at the time and applied for the Barclay Sallie Mae and got a $3,200 CL. She does have about $10,000 in income and is an AU on four of my CC's as well as 5 student loans so her credit history is about 2 years old.  Unless she plans to apply for a lot more credit in the near future, I don't think taking 3 hard pulls in very bad since those would drop off in a year and she is probably not planning an app spree in the near future. Just my two cents.

Re: Cap One Quicksilver??

I have three of them now.

One was originally an HSBC converted to QS1.

One was originally a Cap1 platinum converted to QS (no AF)

Another was one organically applied for as a QS; issued as a QS one and convertted within 8 months to QS with a CLI to 6k and World MC branding

Capital one has been amazingly easy to work with and the simple reward redemption is unbeatable, and fast.

No credit issues. Just a thin file. Only 1 CC for 13 months. Always paid on time.  CL of 1,000.00

Is she a student? What kind of income does she have?  My daughter used her summer job, school job and income from her father that she gets direct deposited each week for her total income.

Re: Cap One Quicksilver??

I actually find the QS to be the best Cashback Card on the market for those like myself that aren't interested in or tired of playing the Rotating Cats across multiple cards in order to maximize rewards games..

I soley use the QS to funnel all my Auto Bill Pays and the Cashback has been fantastic, and you build the bank so quickly because routing so much through the card. I route roughly 3.5K in monthly bills to the card. I just cashed out ~300$ in Cashback, and am already back to an ~87$ bank. Trick is I have all my Auto Bill Pay set to post to the QS in a 2-3 week time frame, so that I can PIF at one time before the statement cuts, that way a $0 balance always reflects on my CRs.

Absolutely Loves This Set Up.

+1

I really still love my QS best out of all my cards. I like how I don't have to wait for the statement to cut to see my cash back available.

I think I would try for the Cap1 either QS or Platinum and/or the Barclay SM.  She can still put student in the "employment" category and just put where she will be attending since they don't require you to submit a copy of her course schedule and she IS a student recently graduated and scheduled to attend a college.  She has 13 months of CC history so I think she could be approved for either.  The platinum would be easier and she could probably PC in 6 months or less to the QS. OR you could have her apply for the QS and if denied, have her call in and recon for the platinum credit builder card.  The SM would be 1 pull and I have seen it approved with scores here on the board well below your daughters and it is a rewards card and a nice card to have at that with monthly caps of 5% on the first $250 Gas/Groceries and 5% on Amazon for the first $750 which is a great place for students who buy textbooks. 1% on everything else.

I discussed the cards with my daughter and let her choose. She chose the Barclay SM for her first card.
