Re: Cap1 CLI Possible?

Go Figure! I have been stuck at 1500 for years and years! I get paid every three months or so, so I use my cards. I had 18 bucks left on my card. What % of util. is that? I get home today and check my email. Capital One has given me a 1K increase!

Re: Cap1 CLI Possible?

My experience with them is they don't do customer initiated CLI's but keep up with your other cards until you hit big boy/girl territory.  Everytime HSBC or Hooters goes up they follow very shortly thereafter.  I started with them at around $500 and it stayed that way for years until I started getting other cards that went up and they started chasing. It's sitting at $1800 with Hooters at $1900 and HSBC at $2000.  Bank of America on the otherhand just doesn't care and stick's at $500, been there for years.  BOA is on the closing list with Orchard as I've outgrown $79 AF's.

Hey everyone, I sent a secure message through my account to Cap1 asking if I could get a CLI. Of course I knew they wouldn't, however when they wrote back to me, they didn't really say No. Here's what they said:
--------------------------------
Thank you for contacting us about a
credit limit increase on your Capital One account. However, we cannot
submit a request to increase your credit limit through written
correspondence.

If you can call us at the number listed below, an agent would be happy
to assist you with your request.

The following are questions you may be asked for when you contact us:
• How much of a credit line increase you are seeking?
• What is your annual household income?
• Why are you seeking a credit limit increase?

You may contact our Customer Service Representative at 1-800-955-7070,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We appreciate your business and look .......
--------------------------------

So is that just what they tell everyone or do I actually have a chance? This is one of those starter cards, it had a $300 limit, but now it has a $500 limit. So should I even bother calling or do you think I should just hold out?

Cap1 is the KING of mysterious CLIs. Mine ($500 to $750) was automatic after 6 months...NADA after that. I have heard of hard pulls getting nowhere when people try to get CLIs by phone.

If you figure this one out, let me know...wish I could be more helpful but this one just doesn't have a good answer.

I'm waiting for mine to go through. 2 more months!! I'd be happy with a 750 CL they'll be the reaccuring charge card.

I opened my Crap1 cards over a year and a half ago with a 583-610 FICO and no other cards, now I'm sitting on a 800+ EQ and not far behind are my TU and EX, I have cards with 16K, 10K, 6K, 5K and so on CL's, and Crap1 will still do nothing for me. Both Crap1 cards still at 500CL and 750CL.

You really should close those Cap1 accounts stang. Or SD for good til they close for inactivity. Are they your oldest TL's?

Re: Cap1 CLI Possible?

I do not understand Cap 1 at all. I have had 2 accounts with them now in excellent standing...near 700 scores, always PIF each month...no CLI

Now my wife gets a 1k increase to 2k overall last night with low scores, always at the limit,  and multiple baddies.  Her account has had lates as well. How in the world do you explain that?!?!

I know LS2982 Smiley Sad I paid the 39AF on both of them this year, figuring maybe, just maybe, Cap1 will step up and they have not thus far, so I will def close them before the Af hits next year, and they both have been SD'd for months.

No they are not my oldest TL's, I have 3 open AmEx cards that are backdated to 1991.

I sure haven't been able to figure them out.  Part of the difficulty in figuring out Cap One patterns is that Cap One offers so many different cards.  Cap One's behavior on, say, a Cap One platinum, may be very different than their behavior for a Cap One premier platinum.   We're pretty good on these boards as far as differentiating the various flavors of Amex cards, but we tend to lump all Cap One cards in a single category - which makes it hard to figure out if there's nuances for the different cards.
