I burned Cap1 for $5000 back in 2019 when I included them in a chapter 7. I applied and was approved over 3 months ago for a platinum card with a starting limit of $3000. My question is, is this considred a bucket card ? I know there are probably other threads on this so, I apologize in advance for starting a new 1 if that's a problem ?? My bk was discharged on 1/19/20.
Not sure about that card and the other commenter is mistaken, there are multiple buckets, not just at the bottom, but, if you had a decent score, I would not worry too much. $3000 is a decent SL for that card.
@Bippy_33 - Congrats on your discharge new healthier credit habits to look forward to.
Cap1 is very forgiving and allows folks back in after discharge despite burning them in BK (for most, as i've heard a handful of cases some had to wait 1yr after discharge). To answer your question, Yes, the CAP1 PLAT (platinum) card is a starter card but i wouldn't call it a "bucket card". Here's why, most have reported allowed back in with SL (starting limit) of either $300 or $3,000 on the Platinum then between 3-6mos with good spending habits and ontime payments you're offerred the option to upgrade to QS (QuickSilver ...not the QS1 which has an AF). QuickSilver can grow to higher limits as you'll find throughout these boards and possibly even qualify for higher tier CAP1 cards.
Summary: Not a bucket card but rather a starter card. If you don't see the upgrade option between 3-6mos range you can try the following link https://verified.capitalone.com/sic-ui/#/esignin?Product=Card&Action=ProductUpgrade
Hope this helps.
Capital One issued my Platinum card with a $300 SL when I first started rebuilding my credit. It's been about two years and since then they've granted a single CLI to $400 in February and a PC to Quicksilver last month, both by request. I was issued a new QuicksilverOne just before the PC on my other card, this time with a $3000 SL. I'm assuming the first card is bucketed.
@TexMex90 - Sorry to hear this happened to you it can be frustrating but, nonetheless congrats on the QS1 $3,000 SL. The "platinum" is upgrade eligible after an initial period of time with the caveat of course your credit profile is favorable to Cap1.
It is really hard to tell. I burned Cap One for $1500 in my bk in 2017. 2019 I got a Quicksilver One with $2,500. I have only carried my Netflix subscription as a balance on this card and have always been denied a CLI. Earlier this year I app for a the SavorOne with a $3,000 SL and last week was approved for a CLI to bring the limit up to $2,000.
The QuicksilverOne is on the chopping block because it's definitely bucketed.
@FLLGuy Thanks, I just wish Capital One still allowed combining cards. I'd much rather transfer that $3000 CL to the $400 Quicksilver I have with the longer history and avoid that next annual fee. I wonder if the QuicksilverOne can upgrade to something other than a Venture card, I wouldn't mind a SavorOne.

You'll have to wait and find out. Some people have successfully gotten $500 cards to high limits, others have no such luck. My capital one hasn't grown in the years that I got it, it's stayed at the same limit I got it at.
Edit: I forgot, I got a $500 CLI and that was it.
