Mine are SD'd, got tired of contacting the EO everytime I wanted to do something. My other cards handle these type of requests right over the phone and in less than 5 min. To me the 1.5% CB isnt worth it for having to jump through hoops with Cap1. My card is sitting at 2k now after almost 4 years and 3-4 emails and convos with the EO...I'll take the 1% CB + 5% categories and Shopdiscover bonus I get on IT anyday...not to mention I've gone from $800 to $3000 with Discover in 3 months.
I agree. The 1.5% cash back isn't worth it to me either. Still... I will give it a go and see what happens on the recon.
I sent them a Facebook message about 30 mins ago and just got this response:
Thanks for reaching out to us. We'd like to take a look into this further for you to assist. Can you provide us with the decline reason along with your zip code so we can research this further? Thanks! ^JD
I replied with pretty much with the 1 inquiry in 6 months and said I believe my low card usage to be responsible... Basically what I said earlier in this thread.
Will see what they say... If nothing else I'd like an increase for UTI but did tell them I would definitely increase my usage with a higher limit.
BTW what is SD'ed?
Well good luck to you on that one! I hope they offer you something that makes you happy.
SD is sock drawer, meaning put away and not using it ![]()
Ahhhh ok LOL....
I'd be happy with $3000 but would take $2500. Will post back.
I'm in the same situation right now. They asked for the reason of decline and zip code
Now just waiting
I'll give them credit for being fast on the Facebook responses...
Just got this message....
Thanks for the info, TRC_WA. We're going to forward your concerns to a group that can assist further. We'll be in touch once we have more information. Thanks for your patience! ^JD
I'm assuming they are talking about the EO?
Just got the same message. Hopefully it wont take too long to get a response back.
@TRC_WA wrote:Today marks the 12th statement cut on my $1500 CapOne card... the first card I got a year ago shortly after my Ch 13 discharge. The card started at $1000... credit steps increase to $1500 at statement #6... so here we are 6 months later and I thought I'd try for a CLI. I've read that CapOne only gives increases every 6 months.
Anyway... I hit the love button this morning and got a message that I would be sent a letter. I called one of the recon numbers listed here (800-625-7866) and to my surprise I got an agent who barely spoke english and kept referring me to their automated CLI system.
This evening I got an email saying that I had a document waiting... so I log in and read this:
Dear TRC_WA,
May 28, 2014
Information about your account ending in XXX
Creditor: Capital One Bank (USA), N.A.
P.O. Box 30285
Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0285 1.800.219.7935
You recently requested a credit line increase for your Capital One® account. Unfortunately, your account isn't eligible right now. We know this isn't the answer you were hoping for and we want to help you understand why:
Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low
Too many recent inquiries
Hmmmmm... define "recent"... a year ago? I've had 1 inquiry (auto refi) in the last 6 months... about a dozen or so inquiries dated 6-12 months ago from when I opened the CC accounts you see in my sig.
I laughed at the low credit line usage part... I ran the balance up to $900 back in October... made a couple payments then transferred the balance to my BECU card. Since then I've made small purchases around $75 a month and PIF. I've done that for 6 months.
I'm tempted to call them and tell them that the reason BECU gets the majority of my CC usage is because they gave me a nice limit and I can run $2000-$3000 a month through that card... get points for it and not hurt my FICO score.
@I suppose I should reconsider and max out CapOne every month for their $20 a month @ 1.5% cash back?
I dunno... I'm half tempted to close CapOne... the $1500 and $750 cards have served their purpose.
Should I recon? Any chance I get someone that speaks english?
Mine goes somethin like this.....opened 11/12 at 500, on 5/13 via credit step bumped to 1500, on 5/14 this month requested 4K via EO, only granted 500.
So after 18 months since opening, i'm at 2000![]()

I find after the EO/Social contact your next luv button increase is pretty good comparatively. I don't know if they reset a setting or something, but it's usually better after that and allows your CL to grow -- with continued usage.

I sent a follow up Facebook message this morning and got this reply...
Hey TRC_WA! Since this is a manual review it may take a few days. Generally we suggest 5-7 business days. We will let you know once we have an update. ^BT
