Capital One Balance Transfer Question

So I received some checks from capital one for an 18 month no interest balance transfer with a 2% fee. I was going to deposit it into my account, so I can get it done right away. Wells Fargo told me I can't do that. Has anyone else ever had problems with this?

I've had no problems doing that. What is the issue why you cannot?

They didn't say. They just asked if it was a convenience check and I said yeah. She then says, oh I can't do that.

Re: Capital One Balance Transfer Question

Go online then and just have Cap1 send you the no hassle check. When you go in to apply for a BT, there is a blue link to click to make the check payable to you.

The same terms are online as you received in the mail. It usually takes about 7 days for the check to get to me. It's made out to you and is a real check. Then mobile deposit it. All done and won't get the 5th degree from a teller :-)

Re: Capital One Balance Transfer Question

I don't think the regular BT checks Cap1 sends out can be direct deposited. I've never seen that specific verbiage on mine.

Thanks for this information! I didn't know I could request a check for direct deposit.

I've done what KSB1 said and it was quick and painless. Usually I get offers for the no hassle with my cap one cards in the SD. Always 3% fee though

I've been getting transfer fee checks, QS offers 1% and QS1 2% transfer fee.

Re: Capital One Balance Transfer Question

This is rather strange... the last two times I've taken advantage of access checks I've deposited them into a Wells Fargo ATM... in both cases the full amounts were available the next day.

If it were me, I would ask the teller specifically what the issue was; as long as you're depositing them there should be no problems.

However (with a big 'H') if you asked to cash the check and didn't have at least that much money on deposit you can expect to get push-back... this actually isn't uncommon at all.  Smiley Wink
