Capital One CLI Denial Reasons

I'm not sure if this information has been posted here before, but I thought I'd share it anyway. The image below shows common reasons for CLI denials from Capital One (and what we can do about it).

Re: Capital One CLI Denial Reasons

I hope it helps. I had tried for a CLI on my Venture card after 2 statements because I had read so many success stories on here about early CLIs on the Venture card, but I was shot down for "Account Too New." At least now I know to wait at least 3 months before asking for a CLI on any new card with Capital One.

CAP 1 needs to be consistent.  On a new account, I got a CLI in 2 months.

I agree, I got a increase on all my cards in two months.

Re: Capital One CLI Denial Reasons

This message might not have been posted here, but Cap One has the same info online.

It is NOT helpful. I'm not saying this to OP, rather, I'm saying this to Cap One. Nothing you do to follow this "help" post will get you any closer to a CLI.

As long as your credit report has no derogatory, and as long as it has been at least 6 months since last CLI, do the following:

1) Apply for the CLI online.

1a) Very rarely, you might be rewarded. Rejoice. Buy a lottery ticket, maybe. Go to step 3.

1b) Most likely, you'll be denied. The reasons given will be BS. Keep the results. This is proof that you tried. Go to step 2.

2) Do not call the CSR. They will be able to do nothing. Instead, either email the executive office directly, or contact their social network team.

2a) Someone from Exec Office will contact you back. Give them your desired number. They'll very likely offer you a lower number back so go up, but not unreasonable

2b) Wait for EO to come back. Then congratulate yourself on the CLI.

3) Wait 6 months.

At least, you're getting increases. For the past two years before the entire Venture gravy train, all they were consistent about was telling "NO".

How many payments had you made within those 2 months? I ask because the way Capital One worded it, it sounds like they're looking at payment history, so maybe at least 3 payments is what they're looking for?
