@Anonymous wrote:I hope it helps. I had tried for a CLI on my Venture card after 2 statements because I had read so many success stories on here about early CLIs on the Venture card, but I was shot down for "Account Too New." At least now I know to wait at least 3 months before asking for a CLI on any new card with Capital One.
CAP 1 needs to be consistent. On a new account, I got a CLI in 2 months.
How many payments had you made within those 2 months? I ask because the way Capital One worded it, it sounds like they're looking at payment history, so maybe at least 3 payments is what they're looking for?
One payment and spent about $1,500 on the card... I hope this helps. Although, I want to see if I can another one after spending alot and making huge payments...

Hmm, well there goes my theory. I guess I'll try for a CLI in another month or so and see what excuse they give me next time for the decline ![]()

Read a little deeper. While some have gotten it *a cli within 2 months. on their venture . many many many more have gotten it 2months and 14 days. from approval. just go to the threads and you will see it. they are the vast majority. So if only have had your cards 2 months. give it 2 more weeks and try again. its just like the majority of us knowing that Discover is 16 or 17 days on the gravy train. same with venture. either 2 months in. or 2 months 14 days. you should at least get an offer. even 300 increase. if so. turn it down. and a couple weeks after that. they will offer something else.
Hope this helps. good luck.
Thank you all for your comments--you guys are so helpful. I will definitely keep you updated when I try again.
As you can probably tell by my signature, my Cap One QS was a PC because it is a WMC.
That was through the EO and I was very happy with their attention to the matter. This was almost one year ago. Since then I had one EO call that resulted in zilch.
A couple of days ago I wrote another email to Mr. Fairbank and the EO team. The last reason for my decline was "low utilization on the current credit line". I was a bit shocked because on the last two statement I went through about 8K on a 5K limit, PIF. So I decided to put that to the test. I had to travel overseas where hotels are close to 1k per night, other expenses yada yada. In three weeks time I put $14,848 on the account, of course PIF every chance I got.
Pushed the CLI button and to my surprise "low utilization on the current credit line". That was a shocker lol.
Anyway, wrote the email, got contacted by a nice lady in the EO department and we will see how this goes. I am going to apply for a Venture card (given everything I read about starting limits from the forums) but I did mention to them that there would be no incentive to apply if the limit was this low. I am testing a theory that if your account was a MS that was PCd to a QS there might be some hesitation on CLI or some sort of a glitch in the system given the messanges I receive.
To those that are in the same boat or are interested I will keep posted on how that goes. I honestly don't think I will have a problem of getting a decent line with the Venture card, but given that I want to keep my QS and I like the fact that it is a WMC, I really hope to get this resolved. Fingers crossed. Thanks for reading.

Cap One normally wants you to wait 6 months to ask for a cli. I also heard that some were getting one after just 2 months. After what I've been seeing, looks like I have some exposure left with them. I might try it & see what happens. Then I don't want to mess up my other cards that need clis's a lot more.
Got my Venture with 10000cl in March. I spend 2000-3000 a month. I have made three payments(April, May, June) of 2500.00 each month. My third statement cut on the 4th and received a cli of 3000.00 on the 5th.

Was it an auto cli or did you request it?
