They told me it was temporary when they took the ability to combine away. They then told me it was only available if my accounts were eligible and only then would I see the option. Now they finally tell the truth..." we have no idea, it was taken away to be updated and never returned."
Anyone here have any inside information with this one? I would really love to get rid of one of my CapOne cards but it's too valuable with age and limit.

Card combination went away over a year ago. The CSRs likely don't know anything more than we do about it returning. CapOne seems to like to do things that are counterproductive for borrowers (no combinations, no limit reallocations, big spend for crappy CLIs, inferior rewards, prequals only for subprime cards, triple HPs for cards that aren't anything special, etc) so I'd be surprised if it did come back.

This is it in a nutshell! They don't pretend to be anything else. I feel for the reps. Most are friendly, but seem as confused as the customers they try to assist.

They have the Walmart card! Everbody loves Wamart ![]()
On a serious note, they did this to me long time ago. Back around 2011, they got rid of consolidation around the time I wanted to do it. Never realized they brought it back after the fact.

You mean like putting a 3% international transaction fee on their cards?
Oh, wait, sorry, I got Capital One confused with Chase Freedom and Citi Double Cash cards.

And yeah, it sucks that their Quicksilver is 1.5% cash back, so terrible- oh, wait, my bad, I mean the same as the Chase Freedom Unlimited. Or the BECU cashback card.
I'm not gonna argue they're perfect but I'd take a C1 QS card any day over a number of ones issued by my local credit unions (I actually checked, outside of BECU they're mostly hot garbage). The app is slick. The Venture isn't a bad premium travel card (it beats my CU's premium card around the head and shoulders).
myFico is full of nth degree optimizers who are all trying to push the edges so of course a card issuer that's just OK-ish is going to lose, but C1 is fine for what it is.

If you don't travel internationally, there are tons of 1.5% cards besides QS (and BECU) that can be had with a single pull and will grow much easier with one's credit profile. For the international traveler, there's always the Paypal MC which covers all of the QS bases and does it at 2%.
