Capital One account combination

I have not been on in a while and don't know if anything has changed or what I should know.
i have two cap one qs cards $
$10k limit over year old 4500 balance
$9.5k limit card over 10 years old $7k balance

i would like to combine these to the old card. Do I need to $0 balance the newer card first?
what account do I go into to do the combo?
if I have to pay to zero how long do I need to wait?
is there anything else to consider?

thanks all

Re: Capital One account combination

You start it from the card you're wanting to keep/merge into.
The card you're wanting to get rid of, has to have a $0 balance.

Any/Everything else, I'd be interested in knowing as well considering I may end up doing this by the end of the month if I can't get my QS1 AF waived.

Re: Capital One account combination

Your donor card will need to have a zero balance. The ability to combine should be available almost immediately after your payment to zero posts. The last I looked, you didn't need to enter the combination interface from any particular account. After reaching the combination page, all eligible options were made available.

Re: Capital One account combination

Both my accounts cut by the 4th. If I paid today any chance I could pull it off this statement cycle?

i know it would be threading a needle.

I have two QS cards (Mastercard over a year old and Visa opened at New Year's) that I'm planning to combine by early July. Personally, I'm planning to pay off the remaining balance on the MC next month and then combine it into my Visa. I'm not sure if I have to wait until the Visa is 6 months old or not; I thought I did, but read different information in another thread.

Statements won't matter. Your current balance needs to be zero. That can happen anytime.

Re: Capital One account combination

Understand

question was more about showing account pif and closed and another account going from 74% until to 35% util. I have lots of stuff going on and didnt want to wait another month for this to report. That is what was driving the question .  I just paid down both 4K and don't want to tie up another 4.5k that I can use elsewhere over the next month.  I have 3 other accounts I'm paying off and some balances on cards I'm keeping that will post higher balances this month I don't want to spook anyone when I'm actually paying things down.

On the C1 PIF you're intending on doing, are you currently paying interest on that specific ~$4K balance?

Re: Capital One account combination

One other thing to note, though it may or not be of concern for you, is that C1 see's the combination as a CLI for the card you are keeping.  So this will reset the CLI clock for you.  Going for a CLI beforehand may allow you to bypass this, though I'm not sure.

Yes the newer card just came off 0% in feb and why I'm paying it off just had few other things going on and getting around to it
