I have my QS set to the 21st so it looks like I’m safe for now.
Thats probably what Cap1 is banking on...that most folks dont notice it, and they end up being "late", cha ching! Late payment fees!

How exactly will anyone be late? They’re moving the date later than it was before. If you have payments scheduled for the 25th, they’re still going to post on the 25th. The only thing it will mess up is reporting. People who have specific dates they pay on will still have their payment posted within the 30 day cycle.

I suppose so
@Trudy wrote:This specific cycle could be an issue for some. I think it would be quite unfortunate if an account ends up reporting unexpectedly for anyone planning an app, particularly MTG now, trying to do AZEO or any other strategy to get the best score during this transition time. If they're not aware of this change an account can end up reporting when it was not expected to. I think after a month or 2 we will all be use to it and can change our due dates to fit our needs.
You hit the nail right on the head. I am preparing to use AZEO Aug 2019 - Feb 2020 to go on app spree next spring. July was a test run. Couldn't quite stick the landing with another Cap1 card that statement cuts on 23rd with an amount pending/posting on the cut date. The Cap1QS is the last card to close every month. Now it will be the first. I have all my recurring expenses on this card and the previous due/statement date was perfect as most of my autopays posted by 23rd and one posted on 28th. This will cause me to pay more attention to this card b/c some of the begining of the month autopays happen 1-4 some happen 7-9. Only slightly inconvient but another detail I thought I didn't have to obsess over anymore.
Yep happened to me. Both of my Cap 1 cards were due on the 25th and they got changed to the 9th and 1st.
I can't help but wonder if this is related to their data breach somehow.
@Trudy wrote:The statement will not be cut on the 27th nor balance report until the "not seen" actual new statement/close date. So although on one of my accounts it shows my next payment is due 9/4, it is technically 8/4 (extended beyond 7/24 shown) and close/report date will be 8/7 per what I was told on the call, even though the site still shows 7/24. So it will not report to the CB's until after 8/7. The "not seen" new close date is actually effective now. Other than possibly the notices they sent, you can't see that 7/24 is not actually your due date this month as this change occurred after the 6/27 statement that generated the now "fake" 7/24 due date.
9/4 is actually the following months due date with a close/report date of 9/7.
I have a reoccurring charge that hits on the 30th or 31st of the month. It would normally not be reported for this billing cycle due to the normal report date of the 27th. But with this mid cycle change it will appear on my new 8/7 statement and if I don't pay this charge by the actual due date of 8/4 it will be reported to the CB's.
The CSR stated they have received several calls from people who obviously monitor their credit regularly or who expected to receive their statement on-line on the 28th but waited until the 29th to call in case it was pushed out due to the weekend.
I called and was given the exact opposite of this information. I will have to call again today because my CSR was just reading what was on the screen and doesn’t really know the context of why I’m asking.
But anyway this is what he said. The due dates and cycle close dates that are now is a September are actually the next ones. There are no due dates or cycle close dates in August. I said are you sure? He said “that what the system says”. Sounds like a HUCA situation.
Though as odd as that may be it does match the email I received from Cap1.
For my current statements, the due dates remained on July 23rd. But the statement cut date moved from July 26th to August 5th. Next month, both the due date and the statement date will have been adjusted.
FortifiedHM,
Interesting. I didn't know about the hack. But today, in my city, they arrested the woman responsible. Then her "roommate" for being a felon with 20+ guns/rifles. Hmmph.
Morpho,
Can't say the information provided to you is incorrect because as we know, not every (often most) CSR's don't know what they heck is going on. As a result I paraphrase my question 3+ times, then summarize what I "think" I've learned at the end, then call back to get another CSR's take. And 50% of the time it's something else and may require another call which I don't always make...compared to 80+% without paraphrasing and a specific line of questioning. ![]()
I'll see as this is a test month.
