So, I got this card back in 2016 thru a mail offer. Got instant approval and a $500 SL. Nothing to sneeze at. I've used this card pretty well over the years and always PIF, but have yet to get approved for a CLI. Every time I request it, I get the 2-3 day message and it always says something along the lines of "Credit line increases are not currently available for this type of account."
I called and ask what gives, and can never get a straight response... Anyone ever have this issue with CapOne before? I'm ready to cancel this card because it's just taking up room in my wallet, and only having a $500 doesn't allow me to get the rewards I'd like.
The only reason to keep a card like this open is if it's your oldest card by a mile. But you got it in 2016. When it gets around to dropping from your report, your score's going to yawn. Close it.

That's a fair point. Gonna close it. Thanks!
The card is probably bucketed to the profile that was approved with.
Side note, I see 2 QS1s in your profile, if you're unable to PC either to non AF QSs, why not combined them so you pay 1 AF for a SD card?

I just recently PC'd from a Platinum to QS1. The Platinum was my first card, and is 9Y10M old. Tried to merge the two accounts, but they won't do it for another 5 months. So there they sit lol.
Well, this is interesting... can't close this account online. Guess I'll have to call in tomorrow and close it that way.
Yay.
I think that PC was a mistake, QS1 is a dead end AF card that is very difficult to PC out of, especially recently. Platinum on the other hand has a much easier path to QS, better option would be to hang on to Platinum until QS upgrade is available then combine the other QS1 into the QS.

Dammit... well that sucks. Hindsight is 20/20 though.
My current statement balance - Card works for me
@mrfragicide, did the Platinum/QS1 have the fee when you first got the card? If so, the QS1 would be the logical "upgrade" path.
Given its age, you definitely want to try to keep it. But you don't want to be paying a fee forever. Try using the card each month and making a payment each month. And call in every month to check for upgrade offers. I can't guarantee that this will work as there aren't enough data points available. But I was able to PC two ancient QS1s after 12 or 13 consecutive months of usage.
