Are there any cards that offer checks to write that I can still get rewards on without fees? Like paying the mortage with one. Or am I dreaming?
When I posted this message it asked me for a label. Whats that? Never seen that before.
Cash Access checks are exempt from rewards in every case I'm aware of. Additionally the APR is typically higer and interest accrues immediately. I strongly advise you stay way from using these unless necessary.
EDIT:
If you need revolving access to a cash vehicle let me suggest a Line of Credit.
Maybe dreaming somewhat? Most major banks don't offer BT checks with rewards.
Although PenFed currently has a $200 offer ($100 statement credit with $1,500 spend in 90 days & $100 bonus statement credit with a BT up to $10K) on their Visa Signature Rewards CC**. Some CU's like Alliant can periodically offer rewards on BT transactions.
**Subject to credit approval
This is to pay a monthly bill to a person. I guess all checks are BT checks? It would be paid off as soon as it clears so apr is not an issue.

BT checks are considered cash access line instruments. But, as mentioned above, major banks are not going to offer rewards on any of these. Additionally, these checks would come with the standard APRs (or treated like a cash advance), unless they are part of a 0% APR promotion + there will be a BT/check fee assessed on them (ranging from 1% to 5%). Sound appealing yet?
with no rewards, no. This person I am paying can not accept cc without paying a fee, that negates the purpose after the math is done. Worth an ask. Thanks to all!

Does the individual take PayPal? That could be an alternative, but you're still going to pay a transaction fee depending on which CC that earns rewards is linked to your PayPal account (if you have one).
I guess there is really no way. I know nothing about pay pal and dont really want to mess with them. Thanks for the help anyway.
