^^^This. We have a huge weekly grocery bill and there is no way I am swapping cards weekly just for .6% extra. I'll take my BCP anyday.

@ptatohed wrote:There is no "COMMON" mistake with SYW. Everyone knows it is 5% (gas purchases) in points toward gift cards. (But there are very often other spending offers that offer statement credits (which is true cash back)).
It's a MISTAKE if you say SYW is "cash back" when a new visitor asks best cash back card...I think you have been in the forums toooo long if you believe "everyone KNOWS......" lol
I'm with @odd_dog on this one, @ptatohed. I had never heard of it, but you seem to drop it into every other thread. Nobody shops at Sears anymore. 😂

. Have two myself which I use for gas/grocery. Eating out I use CSP. Although getting 3 of them might take some working as don't believe there is a limit on them and be 5% up to 500 a month. All depends on your spend amounts. Also consider a sign-on bonus as well as that can take year/years to make up on organic spend of said 2-3$ card if it has say a 700-800 sign-up bonus whether cash/rewards or airfare, etc.
My issue with using the Custom Cash for groceries is its $500 per month cap. I don't have any other cards that use a monthly cap; everything else is quarterly or yearly (or uncapped). And unlike many expenses, my grocery shopping routinely surpasses $500 per trip.
Guessing single has its pro/cons for myself
. Perfect card for just me or perfect cards should I say. Majority 2k+ is eating out and on CSP so no cap but groceries and gas < 500 / month for me. Each of our needs are different and different spend in different cats so no one thing fits all by any means.
My Current Cash Back CCs
U.S Bank. 5% streaming,cable and internet services
U.S Bank 5% Fast food and gym memberships
Amex BCP 6% groceries.
Ducks Unli. 5% Gas
Chase Ink. 5% cell
CSP. 3% on dining
CFU 1.5 all spend
Redundant Cash Back CCs
AAA VISA. 5% Groceries 3% Costco
Citi Costco. 4-5% gas
Currently, spending for Amex Platinum (175k for 8k spend)
My main spend is the top 5. If anyone can find a cash back for car insurance let me know. I canceled my AOD visa last year. I know I know. Stupid me. Lol
@Vinjints wrote:What's your actual monthly spend show your highest spend areas are? Reccomendations will go from there. I think it also depends on how many cards you want to juggle, or are you more inclined to limit your use to 2-3?
^^^^ This is the best answer.
With out knowing a lot of other info, posters are just throwing out good cards that fit there credit profile, spend and view.
It depends on your credit profile, scores, file thickness, where you spend and how much you spend.
It also depends on family stuff like if you need to juggle wife and 4 AU cards or it is just one person.
If lower spend, cap's play a much lesser role than a big spender and a house hold full of AU accounts.
Number of cards one wants to play with for extra rewards, is a big consideration.
I believe one should know where and how much they spend on average in most common reward catagories. Just as important how much will fall into the non-catagory spend. Real 6 months budget spend broken out can be differant than ones off the cuff first belief.
As some posted, it also depends on if you want No AF cards, don't mind AF, or have money/investments to move for better rewards.
Need to know a lot before recommending card's, or you just have a long list to research yourself.
There are cards better for low spenders, high spenders, card collector's, simple 2-3 card set's.
Need to know more before I just throw out card's for you to look at.
This post could give you a 100 card research project. ![]()

To be fair, @Vinjints brought SYW up in this thread first.
Remind me not to do that again.

Fair enough. I formally apologize to @ptatohed. (I was joking about your SYW love, by the way)
