There is no "COMMON" mistake with SYW.  Everyone knows it is 5% (gas purchases) in points toward gift cards.  (But there are very often other spending offers that offer statement credits (which is true cash back)).

It's a MISTAKE if you say SYW is "cash back" when a new visitor asks best cash back card...I think you have been in the forums toooo long if you believe "everyone KNOWS......"  lol

I'm with @odd_dog on this one, @ptatohed. I had never heard of it, but you seem to drop it into every other thread. Nobody shops at Sears anymore. 😂

Not true at all @Varsity_Lu !!  I hardly ever, ever mention it in any thread outside the 'big thread' (which  I never intended to be big BTW) let alone "every other thread".  And.......... I wasn't the one who "dropped it into" this thread either!  And, yes, no one shops at Sears anymore which actually has nothing to do with anything!    Smiley Tongue

I was only kidding. SYW sounds like a valuable card if you know how to use it. I jokingly call it the "Shop Their Way" card since it seems like they are the ones telling you when and where to shop to get the amazing rewards.

Re: Cash back CC recs

I'd just like to say that I am proud to live seven miles away from one of the last eight open Sears stores in the United States.

That is all.

It depends on your credit score. If you have good/excellent credit, the best cash back cards for you are likely the Wells Fargo Active Card and the Amex Blue Cash Preferred Card, according to WalletHub, which does pretty thorough analysis. If your score is lower, Capital One has several good options. I'd compare those to see which offers the best rewards for you.

I'd have to argue that Fidelity Rewards Visa is possibly the best no fee 2% card around.  No FTF, Visa Signature benefits, plus you get Global Entry, no minimum redemption.  Great value in a no annual fee card.

I have the Fidelity Rewards and it certainly is my card of choice for non-in-person transactions abroad (just spent $1000 on it in the UK).  But there are alternatives.  The SoFi card (which I used to have till they lowered my CL) also has no FTF, World Elite benefits, cell phone insurance and 3% on travel booked through their portal.   The last two might be more or less valuable than Global Entry rebate, depending on your needs.

Note: based on my experience I wouldn't recommend SoFi, but I recognize that might be misplaced!
