I am a renter (I prefer mobility) and I am moving within the same zip code at the end of this month. I also have a goal of getting a Chase or Citi card with 1 year + 0% promotion by the fall. I am currently sitting on a 704 EQ Fico, 23% util, 2 inq on my account (one is new landlord) and a new acct in Jan (upgraded Walmart to Walmart Discover). My concern is that once I move Citi and Chase will not be interested until my residence has been at least 1 year, previous residence was over 2 years.
So should I try for a Citi or Chase now, because they will not like my move this fall (hope to have a 720 by fall); or will it honestly not matter this fall and I should be patient and wait? The logic goes like this, if I will have to wait for one year anyways, I may as well try now, since the inq will be off my record by the time I have been at the new place for a year anyways...

I don't think that your time at residence is used for approvals so much as it is used to verify who you are. They might want to see bills/statements to prove that you live at your residence but I don't think you would be outright rejected because you lived somewhere for a short period of time.
If time of residence were a case, I'd get denied everytime.
I move every year, and it hasn't stopped me from getting the Freedom/BCE/More/Hyatt in the last year.
It's a verification thing, more than anything else.
I do think that it's interesting that credit bureaus will show you willingly, what your town's average FICO score is though.
Well I did a little more research and read that Citi likes to use length of residence or job as an excuse to reject someone, so I just applied for a thank you visa. They approved me for a 0% 15 months, 12.99% after that, $6000 CL and they said my EQ was 716...
This is the highest initial CL I have gotten since I started rebuilding my credit after my divorce, I am very happy
Guess I will be gardening for the rest of the year...

Happy for the divorce or the card? Just kidding.
Grats on the card!
