Charging privileges are suspended. Please call the number on the back of your Card.

I just logged into my Amex account online and saw that message staring at me in bright red. I guess it's F/R time...

Thanks. I really don't think this will be the big deal everyone says it is.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that I was just approved for Green and Clear on Monday. I have the SkyMiles card. I was approved February 5. I have made almost 2k in charges, but I did send in checks to PIF and currently have a 0 balance, so hopefully that looks good on me.

Let us know once you find out more details. I think it is strange how they stop the access with out any notice. Strange.

So you got the Skyiles on Feb 5, and then less than three weeks later you got two more cards with them?

Three cards in three weeks will get their attention, that's for sure.

Wow, 3 cards in 3 weeks? I wonder how you guys manage to get so many cards? They would not give me even Delta. Any way 6 months no more apping for me, so I dont have to feel bad. I wonder how amex applications processing works.

Well, yes, I did that. But I wanted each for different reasons. I used Delta to get a foot in the door with a prime lender after 5 years in the $300 CL world. After making charges for 2 weeks and sending in checks (I couldn't do it online or on the phone) I decided Green would be better since I could charge and not worry about when it reports and hurting my scores. Then on Monday and decided to go for Clear since it has a good BT rate. Since I built up some account history I got both without a hard inquiry on my report which made it even easier to apply.

All in all, I make pretty good money and didn't lie about it on any of the applications. I already filled out and signed the form and faxed it to them. They said they do thousands of accounts a day in F/R, so hopefully this process is streamlined and will go smoothly. I really don't mind if they check my tax returns to verify income. They are a lender, and need to be reasonably sure I don't screw them over and I understand that. It's my choice to deal with it, and I don't really mind so much. I'm just glad it happened now instead of when I really need the card.

Since they have a valid reason I don't see this as any big deal. I'm willing to accept it to continue to have a prime card in my wallet. However, I would never let a cop search my vehicle without probable cause...

Ummmmmm ... I don't think 2 weeks counts as building up account history.  It's more likely you didn't get hit with a hard because they thought you were apping for different products as alternatives.  Some CCCs won't ding you for that.

Sure it counts. I app'd for Green at the same time as Delta and was shot down. After 3 weeks where I charged a couple k and PIF'd they approved me. I think the only score that changed was EQ, as I had 4 derogs come off.

Yep. Multiple card apps to Amex. As long as your financial data was accurate they should put things back with no problems. Pain in the hinie. Too bad they can't catch this when you are applying and F/R people on app before they get the cards. I really disapprove the freezing of accounts after they have been approved.
