Hello, I'm well passed the 5/24 rule to qualify for a new account with Chase. I read somewhere on myfico that receiving an email invite ("pre qualification offer") works around the 5/24 rule. is this true?
I am not aware of any successful applications from a mail or email invite if an applicant was at 5/24 or higher. In-branch offers, as well as green checkmark and black star offers in your Chase online account or Chase Credit Journey do usually bypass it though.
Thanks. I don't see any green check marks etc.
I had prequals for both Freedom and CSP. I applied for Freedom, after a week or so, CSP prequal was gone, but I kept receiving marketing emails, so I went for it about a month later (that was dumb).
I did get instant approval, and I would have been around 7/24 at that time.
There was a period of maybe 24 hours a week later where card was grayed out and all I was told is "it's being reviewed" then it showed up again and that's that.
I wouldnt do it now ![]()
I wouldn't waste the time in response to an email offer being over 5/24, it will likely only cost you a HP for a denial.

Good judgement comes from experience.
In companies of that size, one hand never knows what the other is doing. You can bet they're not scrutinizing the lions share of this stuff to the extent we expect.
