Re: Chase Amazon visa pre-qualify?

I'll give it a day or two and re-try, kind of wanted to get it in before that new Amex gold reports (approved yesterday SP).

When you refer to the offer, that is being used interchangeably with the pre-qualification here?

Do you think the cold app would stand to be denied because the pre-qual tool got flagged as too many attempts?

Keep in mind that the source of an application matters. Now, there's a possibility that if you submit a cold application that it can be denied or it could also get approved (as some have reported in the past few months). The issue is, no one knows nor can guarantee an approval outcome if you decide to go this route. This will be a YOLO experiment. Personally, I would wait.

Another item to keep in mind, the AmEx Gold Card that was recently approved will likely not report for about a month (give or take). I doubt it would report tomorrow or in the next few days. If so, I will be wrong and owe a couple more drinks Smiley Wink

Re: Chase Amazon visa pre-qualify?

You're really racking up a potential bar tab here 🤪 All great input though. Out of curiosity, what is it about the source of an application that affects approval odds?

Yes, I see my bar tab could get exponentially higher 😂

When I referenced the source of an application, that means whether you are applying directly for the card (without a pre-approved offer) vs applying with a pre-approved offer. There are internal source codes that evaluate/processes the application paths differently (no it cannot be reverse-engineered), which is why the Amazon Visa pre-qualification/pre-approval can bypass 5/24 as well as the "Just for you" pre-approved [green star/black star] offers presented online through your Chase customer profile.

Re: Chase Amazon visa pre-qualify?

This one's worked for me to get the you aren't prequalified answer when I have tried.  I'm not actually planning to get it, but curiosity... Not sure if Chase just isn't liking me right now or if maybe there's no prequal for those who already have the store card?  Anyone with the store card already get a preapproval?

Re: Chase Amazon visa pre-qualify?

My daughter has my Amazon card in her account, she is not AU, just additional family member with separate log in.

She doesn't have pre-qualify link, the only option is "Apply now"

Re: Chase Amazon visa pre-qualify?

Amazon Visa (Chase) pre-qual, couldn't obtain CR

I stumbled upon the existence of the Amazon Visa prequalify link while perusing MF this afternoon, and of course I had to go push the button for myself!  "Wouldn't it be funny to get prequalified under LOL/24 and 3 years past BK where Chase was IIB, hahaha" and all that... anyway, I put in all the info, clicked the button, and got a message:  "sorry we couldn't prequalify you because we couldn't obtain your credit report".  Weird, right?  I don't have any bureaus frozen, so I figured I must have mistyped something... went back and carefully put in the information, hit the button, and got the same message.  So now I'm wondering if my being on Chase's CC naughty list just precludes the system from attempting to SP my CRs, hence this message.  Does that sound about right to you all?

I'm going to say no! I got the same error message and my reports aren't frozen nor am I blacklisted. Your guess is as good as mine!

Re: Chase Amazon visa pre-qualify?

Chase Bank WAS NOT included with the PR on mine. I followed same steps and also got the same response.

I knew soon as Amazon picked Chase that Amazon would lose some sales. Not from myself since there are other cards to make buys from them on, but definitely having Chase sponsor your online retail (with their tightened card policy) for some folks might just put a kink in Amazon sales where otherwise wouldn't be, sending them elsewhere.

@CreditMagic7

Do you have any data or stats that support the bolded statement?  The same could be said by individuals who cannot obtain a Chase Amazon Visa and dislike Synchrony as the alternative. Besides, no one is forced to obtain a Chase co-branded CC as there are plenty of individuals who use other payment methods and Amazon sales aren't suffering as a result of that.
