Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Sig Confusion

Greetings everyone!

Well after being one of the latest victims of the Synchrony all-account axing practice, I've found myself relying on my Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Signature card for the first time to make Amazon purchases. Problem is, I've never had any luck with promotional financing or equal monthly payments with that card. Does anyone have any information that I'm missing out there on the interwebs about the difference between the Amazon Store Card and the Chase Siggy? I thought the store card offered something like 6, 12, and 24 month financing, while the Chase card offered 6, 12, and 18 months--and that pretty summed up the only real difference.

I've spent almost the entire work day fighting with Amazon reps in chat and on the phone about how the Chase card never prompts for an option for financing. I've gotten 100 stories from 100 reps, but I'm basically being told that they tailor financing options on a person-by-person basis. Does anyone know if that is true? At one point, one of the reps transferred me to Chase, and Chase was a bit shocked and confused and doesn't know why I wouldn't qualify for financing options--confirming my card has been used responsibily, has no balance, and has plenty of available credit for my purchase.

@azdude480 when you buy something off amazon it gives you the option to change it from the 5% cash back to the financing - you have to select change payment to see the option to change it , i believe the item has to be over a certain $ amt to get the financing Screen Shot 2022-07-26 at 8.37.58 PM.png

Re: Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Sig Confusion

Hiya mfinsmi1,

First off--how in the heck do you post images? I'm ashamed to say I'm a pretty high level IT admin, and I'm at a loss on this one. Haven't tried using html, but I'd have to host the image somewhere too which seems like a waste.

Anyways, that is exactly what I would do using my Amazon Store Card. I had the three options when I used the little carrot/arrow at checkout for payment options available. Now I only have 1, which is 5% back. Doesn't matter what product I pick on the site, the dollar amount, or if there are special events going on or not.

Just trying to establish if there is a potential technical issue with the card linking between Chase and Amazon, or if the rep was right and the financing depends on the individual and it may work for one person and not another (even if they both have the same credit card and even if they both have a Prime membership). I'd post a screenshot, but maybe I'm too new to be trusted with awesome imagery.

Either way, I appreciate you showing that you have a Chase Card and have financing options and that I'm not entirely crazy. I'll reply with a screenshot just as soon as I figure it out and/or am given permissions.

Re: Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Sig Confusion

They were telling you the truth. It is profile specific, and not always available on non Amazon devices. If I remember correctly, not offered on products less than $50. You should usually see on Amazon devices. Such as; Echo, Fire TV and Fire Tablets, Kindle ereaders.

You should see available plans on product page. If it's offered, it asks if you want installment plan, or one time payment. It will also show on payment screen before you finalize.

Ive had my card since 2014, it's rare I don't see installment as an option. Even though I've used installment rarely.

@azdude480 its cause your a new member you gotta rank up before you post photos i think..... when you reply to this comment where the bold italicize underline row is it should show a camera icon and the word Photos , if its not there then yah its casue your a new member ....

try to add like a nintendo switch to your cart and do what i did - thats the product i added to test out to see if the financing would show up on my amazon prime account - i assume if it doesnt show up for you then they may be right in that its profile dependant - which makes no sense since the financing is one of the benefits offered when you applied for the card in the first place.

Re: Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Sig Confusion

Hi blindamibition,

I think you're right. I don't even get them for Amazon devices such as Kindles or Echos. I'll just mark it down as a sign from the universe to stop looking at 0% financing as anything helpful and just simply don't purchase anything I'm not willing to withdraw from savings for.

I guess the Synchrony cards are better in that regard. I always had the options so long as I exceeded x, y, or z dollars at any given time.

Re: Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Sig Confusion

I just tried the Switch and the Switch OLED. No love on either and only 5% back as an option.

Exactly! It really makes no sense. It's advertised as a regular thing. While in the fine print they do say that not all financing is available at all times, they really don't go into the fact that (on top of that), what is available to one person may not be available to you. That seems a little insane to me. As far as Chase is concerned, they don't recognize any issue on my account and say I should have all of the benefits of any other cardholder. Yet, Amazon wants to restrict incentive for me to buy something? Asinine to the max. Well-played Amazon. /slowclap /facepalm

Thanks again for all of the help @mfinsmi1 !

Re: Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Sig Confusion

Six weeks! It took them six weeks to verify with you that there was no fraud? Good lawd! That inspires confidence right there. Ugh.

At this point I'm not sure what I am hoping for more, Chase Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature financing options (to be like all of the cool kids), or the ability to post photos in posts and credit cards with credit limits in the siggy. (I'm guessing the latter is just html img srcs with alt text attributes defined, but  everyone's lists look so neat and clean that there has to a template somewhere.)
