Chase Blink! via Freedom

so ive been seeing these terminals in alot of stores and there was another thread on here with a discover version of this.

what are your experiences with this product?

I secured messaged chase and they said this was free and eligible for my card and should be receiving it soon.

this is the original reply I got. (I took out my name and rep contact name)

The Chase card with blink (SM) is a credit card with Radio
Frequency Identification (RFID). A computer chip embedded
in the plastic of the card enables authorization without
swiping the magnetic stripe through the merchant terminal.
By holding the plastic against the blink terminal, the
transaction is authorized quickly and safely to replace
the need to use cash for traditional "cash-only"
purchases. Blink credit cards can also be used for
traditional credit card purchases.

The card is low-powered and it must be within an inch of
the terminal to pay for your purchase. Depending on the
merchant and the amount of your purchase, some
transactions will not require your signature.

To make a purchase using your blink card, participating
merchants will have a special terminal on their counter
that displays the word PayPass or a special echo symbol
like the one on the back of your card.

For a list of blink merchants in your area, visit
www.chaseblink.com.

Further, your account is eligible and no fee is associated
with this feature. In order to receive a card with blink
feature, please reply to this email and either me or any
of my colleagues will be happy to assist you.

Re: Chase Blink! via Freedom

Chase Blink is just NFC (near field contact) payment method. It uses the same principle as Google Wallet (smartphone loaded with credit card).

It works, what else is there to say about it?

It's actuallly known as Near Field Communication. The rest is right. It just allows for a contactless transaction and the technology also works with laptops, smartphones, etc.

Re: Chase Blink! via Freedom

I have a Chase debit card and it has that feature. Since I use my credit cards more, it doesn't get much use these days...lol.

Yep.  So is building your own inexpensive RFID scanner; which according to the interwebs can be built to read the info from approximately up to a foot away.

If you are going to get a card with RFID; make sure understand the advantages & disadvantages (risks).

If at first you don't succeed; Garden for 6 months, then try again.

Work the system. Don't let the system work you.
