I use too but stopped using it as the CL is so low.

This is where you have decided that one goal: Keeping your FICO from dropping even 7 points from high utilization, outweighs your desire for a higher CL with the Freedom card Smiley Happy

Decide if you want to push for an auto CLI, and if the answer is yes, then you want to push the existing CL for a few months, paying in full to show heavy usage. By that I mean charging at least $1,500 through the card in new charges every month, and PIF. Even then, the porportion of people getting an auto CLI is quite small.

If you can't pull that off, charge $1.5k and PIF for several months in a row, and I can't do that with my $1,500 Freedom card, then ask, is it really going to need a CLI?

If you really really have to gotta have the CLI, then just save yourself some time, call Chase, have them HP your file, and see what they come back with, no muss, no fuss, the HP fades in a year or so.

Good luck whichever route you decide to go.

Do you use it much? I feel like Chase really only gives auto luv when there is a lot of usage put through the card. FWIW, I put about $2k through my freedom in the first four months I had it, and they doubled my $1.2k limit after those four months.

+1. From what I've seen, the criteria seem to be:

1. Usage of 50% or more of your current CL, and PIF

2. You haven't hit your internal limit with Chase

Every time I've received an auto-CLI from Chase it's been under those conditions.

American Express Platinum (NPSL) || Bank of America Privileges with Travel Rewards Visa Signature - $23,200 CL

Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature - $12,700 CL || Chase United MileagePlus Club World Elite MasterCard - $26,500 CL
Citibank Hilton Reserve Visa Signature - $20,000 CL || J.P. Morgan Ritz Carlton Visa Signature - $23,500 CL

Re: Chase CLI

Don't waste your time with a HP CLI from Chase. Use that HP to app for two new cards and then move the credit limits as you see fit. My personal experience has been that Chase will give much more credit more easily with new apps, especially for co-branded cards, than any CLI request.

Re: Chase CLI

I asked for a CLI on my Slate of $8k, they came back with $5k. Appd for both Southwest cards a month later, both auto approved for 16k

My chase freedom is still at its $2000 SL and its almost 2 years old. No autos increases, my income has gone up ALOT and I keep my profile updated with them. I really don't want a hard pull as I should have really got an auto increase by now. My credit score is also better than when I first got it.

Does anyone know how I could get a soft pull CLI?

You won't unless they auto CLI and they'll tell you if you qualify for an auto CLI.  They determine "should", not you.

CLI's are not simply handed out in exchange for time with any creditor.  Higher income helps but your credit profile also matters.

Do not rely on this meme.  Credit profile and income are the primary factors with any creditor.  Usage may help in some cases but it will not make or break a CLI on its own nor overrule profile & income.  Cards with little usage can certainly see CLI's while cards with a lot of usage may not see a CLI.  It's not just about usage.

Re: Chase CLI

Can you combine a limit from a co-branded card to a CSP?

While that statement (bolded) certainly serves true for any lender, there is more than adequate data that shows heavy use + PIF and getting auto-cli's (not saying they are guarantees but it's not uncommon).  My credit profile was little changed 6 months post approval for my first card with Chase and I got an auto CLI as well as another Chase card after 5 months (these came along when I had some sizeable expenses coming and those cards were used and PIF).

Re: Chase CLI

I went with the HP and they doubled my CL to $4000. Not what I hoped but better than some I've seen. It's now my 2nd lowest limit card.

Re: Chase CLI

Chase doesn't really do user requested soft pulls. It's auto or hard.

Honestly, the best way I've found to claw up the ladder with Chase is to apply for a new card (get a nice sign up bonus or something) and then when you're ready to cancel, you can consolidate the limits. This is how I moved to $46K with Chase (my original limit was $27K)
