Chase Charge Off

I just got denied for a Chase Freedom because I had a charge off with them 8+ years ago!!  I was planning on letting this app ride if I got denied but I needed to find out how long I would be black listed with them.  After calling, they still denied me for too many inquiries.  Okay I can live with that because I do have a lot.  Judging by my denial letter and the lack of a credit score on it  they never even checked my CR and just denied me based on their internal report.

On the bright side my Barclays Rewards card just came today.

Re: Chase Charge Off

I'll just make it an even 10. It just surprised me especially since it was a toy card from when I was 19 or 20. They really don't mess around.

Worst part it wasn't with Chase it was a card they took over. They did a HP and denied me for past negative account.

Re: Chase Charge Off

That's really wild. I guess they are in such demand right now that they can afford to be picky.

Re: Chase Charge Off

whenever you burn a lender, chances are they will blacklist you temporarily.

the duration varies depending on the lender's policies, and possibly on the amount you burned them for, but Chase, Citi and Amex are well known for blacklisting people for extended periods of time.

If you are willing to repay whatever you burned them for, then chances are you will be taken off the blacklist immediately after. However, you will need to evaluate whether it's worth forking out hundreds or thousands of dollars just to have those credit cards again.

JPMorgan Palladium (100k), AmEx Platinum (NPSL), AmEx SPG (46k), AmEx BCP (42k), Chase Sapphire Preferred (47k), Citi Prestige (31k), Citi Thank You Preferred (27k), Citi Executive AAdvantage (25k), JPMorgan Ritz-Carlton (21k), Merrill+ (15k), US Bank Cash+ (22.5k), Wells Fargo (12k), Bloomingdale’s (12.4k), Chase Freedom (5k), Discover IT (5k).

I'm certainly not going to pay them a few hundred bucks years after it charged off and I paid a collection the money.  I'm not too concerned with it.  It is what it is.  Luckily at the time I was burning credit bridges it was primarily with the sub prime guys so most of the big boys I have no history with.

you can always try once every year (so you don't end up with a lot of unnecessary HPs) to see if you are finally off the blacklist.
