My mom got great approvals and then went to PenFed and amex and Chase closed her accounts before the cards showed up because of the additional inquiries.
Wow. Interesting info. Thanks!
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing!

I applied for my last Chase card mid-February and received the 7 - 10 day message which surprised me a little, I was expecting an instant approval. Chase did approve me along with a nice five digit credit line. I recently saw my updated myFICO actual credit reports and it was interesting to see that Chase SP'd me for 10 business days in a row after I submitted the credit card app. I offer this information for those who still want to go on app sprees. Chase and Cap One seem to be saying it is time for moderation. YMMV.
That's interesting, OP, thanks for sharing!
Out of curiosity, could the repeated SPs also have been due to them processing your application? Or did you call them and get your approval pretty soon after?
Good info for those thinking to app for a Chase product!

I don't know if it's the case for OP or not, but banks routinely SP reports of existing customers, especially if you ask for things such as BTs or APR reductions. Sometimes if you have opened a lot of new accounts and/or have a lot of inquiries, the best thing to do is to keep a low profile. Don't call unless you truly have to, etc. It could have been OP's application processing, but could also just have been Chase making sure a bunch of accounts were not being opened in rapid succession.

Makes me shudder.
It was two accounts in 3 1/2 months. I closed more during that period. We consolidated all of our deposit accounts over to Chase a couple of weeks later.
