Just did a CLI for my Wamu platinum --- Chase Freedom converted card. 2500 limit for 2 years. Did a CLI via phone for 5k and was declined stating no reason. Called backdoor and was asked how much I was looking for, I said 4k. She said, ok! I should have said 10k.
Why is chase so hard to give CLI?
So, your CL went from 2.5K to 4K, right?
yes. thank God.
A CLI of 1.5K isn't bad at all. Just keep doing what you're doing.![]()
Great job!
What are your scores?
I've been waiting for a auto, but I guess I will have to take a hard pull.

I have my chase card for almost 4 years I believe and I've only had 2 auto CLI. Both times it was right after I charged my card way up almost to the limit and then immediately payed it off. The last one was only for $300. Before that was decent, I think around $2k. They like to see a LOT of usage and proof that you actually do need the higher limit by using most of your credit line...at least that has been my experience. Though, I wouldn't recommend using the card that much unless you have the means to pay it off right away.
I asked for an increase from my 2k limit to 6.5k last week to match my highest card, but only got approved for 1k more. Any chance I could call and get a recon for more? Have had the card for just under a year, PIF always and pretty much pump any purchase I make through it which is why I want the limit raised.
Call the recon number. They might reconsider your request as you seem to have pretty high usage on their card. At the very least, they will tell you precisely why you were not approved for the 6.5K CL. In addition, Chase does hard pulls for CLI requests, so you're entitled to pull the credit report(s) they used for free, within 60 days.
Find my post called "Received! Double CLI from Chase" posted last week or so.
In short, I also received only 1.5K initially. But I called the recon number literally 2 minutes after the initial increase. I gave them my reasoning--which you can find in the old post--and got the increase I wanted: I went from 3K limit to 4.5K to 10K in a matter of 10 minutes (actually 24 hours, becuase once the system posted the first CLI, they literally can't post another for 24 hours). But it happened for me, and it can happen for you!! By the way, they checked EX for me. EQ 785 TU 800. Don't know EX but my EX FAKOs are always higher my other FAKOs.
