Chase - WAMU purchase question.

Five years ago I defaulted on a Chase Credit card and never paid the chargeoff.  I have a checking and a savings account at WAMU.  Should I move my money?

Re: Chase - WAMU purchase question.

I had the same thing, a Chase charge-off and I also have a WaMu account.  Funny thng is, last month I sent Chase a goodwill letter about the charge off and they wrote me back stating that they had no records of my charge off and they immediately removed the tradeline from all three CR reports.

Your money is safe and backed by Chase.  You can just keep it open.

Re: Chase - WAMU purchase question.

There is a link on the Chase website for WAMU customers.

Basically, it is business as usual for WAMU, transition will be gradual and eventually WAMU will be replaced by CHASE logos.

Saw it this morning while shopping for a new checking account.

Re: Chase - WAMU purchase question.

So, does this mean if I run out and Get a WAMU card, it will eventually turn into a CHASE CC?  Chase is a bit harder to qualify for which is the reason I'm asking.

I don't think you can apply for the Wamu card anymore the reason i say this because one my co workers Banks with Wamu an she received a pre approval in the mail last week so she trys to go online today to apply with the url that was on her pre approval letter the site was down. I might be wrong if Chase own Wamu now i don't think chase will be accepting application for CC under the Wamu name. Not sure if this is true don't quote me.

If you are worried about them taking your money to cover the CO I doubt it would happen. I had the same situation with First Union and Wachovia and there was no problem. I certainly would not call them and ask about it though. Outta sight - outta mind!

Wouldn't both of those emails have been sent after the deal was done?  And their website still shows it's available...

I have that savings account and I called them today, I was told they have no plans on changing any interest rates.  and it's an online account...I don't think it's too late...
