Chase question

I just got approved for a 3500 CL. The application indicated 0% for a year. I called up and was told the 0% was in effect until October, 2008. It then goes to 19.9%. A check was included in my welcome package. That  check is at 19.9%. The 2 month balance transfer at 0% has to be done on the phone.
It doesn't state 0% on the back of the check. I did find this a little misleading.
Has anybody seen a 2 month balance transfer?

Re: Chase question

I don't think I've seen anything about a 2 month balance transfer. I have yet to receive any checks from them like I get from BofA all the time. However, I was harassed for a month straight by CSR calling my house trying to offer me a BT.  If they call again (seem to have gone away at the moment) I will ask how long the 0% is good for.

Oh & Congrats!

Re: Chase question

Chase actually approves 3,6, or 12 month balance transfers based on your credit.  That was the t&c's on my platinum app.

Re: Chase question

I took the first step in apping for a Chase Freedom Plus today! Smiley Happy I spoke to a rep about opening a Chase Checking Account and he said that the checking does require a consumer report but that it is a SOFT hit.  Seems like Chase has told people this before.  Anyway, I apped for the checking and we'll give it a day.  If it was a soft hit, I'll try to wow them with the 15k deposit and then app for the CC!

Re: Chase question

I stand corrected, it was a 3 month balance transfer. The effective dates seem to make it a little less than 3 months. The problem I had was I had to call up for the 0%, the check sent was at 19.99%. I apped hoping for a 0% rate for 12 months. I guess because of my existing debt, I got 0% for 3 months. Just don't send me a check for 19.9%. I think that's misleading.

I have never heard of a 2 month 0% BT...something really seems wrong here.

Re: Chase question

Thanks for the replies. I was approved on 7/22 and presented with a 0% balance transfer through my 10/8 statement. I guess I'm nieve but with my approval letter came a check with no terms on it as far as the rate. I imagine there are some people, like myself, that might assume the check is the 0% offer. I almost deposited the check but held out not knowing the rate for sure. This has taught me not to ever deposit the BT check unless the rate is specified on it.  I later was told by cs that you have to call to get the 0% rate. I never saw that before. A difference in BT rates between calling and checks showing up.

Re: Chase question

OP - You might be able to get them to lower the 19.99APR. I called them the other day and asked them to lower my IR and they were more than happy to lower it to 11.99 on my Freedom card, which is my lowest IR.

If you apply you get that 3,6, or 12 depending on credit. If you get invited, and then app, you can end up with some really great deals. I was preapproved after I opened my checking accounts with Chase, but I chose not to apply. About a month later I got an offer for 0% interest BT's and Purchases through my Feb 2009 statement. I snapped up that deal because it was October of 2007. So that's 16 months.
