So, by applying for the Chase checking account I confirmed for myself that Chase is pulling EX for me Smiley Mad I really don't want another inq on EX (already have 2 from this year and 2 from 2006), plus I have an embarrasing, bogus CA inq that is to my chagrin.  Plus AMEX only softs EX so they will clearly find out.  GRRR  just wanted to vent a little.

Hmmm, I opened a chase checking account online about 1 1/2 weeks ago because after opening my chase credit card they sent me an offer saying they'd give me $150 back after I had my account open for 4-6 weeks.  I'm assuming they just did a soft inquiry if any, because nothing has shown up on my reports yet and I've been using the account, so it's definately open....

Re: Chase question

Yes, it is a soft for the checking account.  But I am interested in apping for a credit card and I was glad that they would soft for the checking, to give me a heads up on whom they would HARD for the CC.

Aaah. Sorry to reiterate what you already know. It's late...or early rather and I'm my 2nd starbucks with a boost of energy so I can finish up some work tonight (doing a good job of that wondering around these forums!).

Where are you located?  I'm in NY and just got the Chase Freedom last month. I can look at my reports to see who they pulled and if I notice any soft pulls if it will help you.

Re: Chase question

Okay, on 6/8 I applied and they pulled Experian (which showed up as Chase). I figured that was a bad sign, so I called on 6/9 to recon and the woman pulled TU (which showed up as First USA) and approved me.  Saw that through truecredit, but I have a recent experian report too and that shows that "JP Morgan Chase" softed me through Experian on 7/17/08. I think that was the day I opened the checking account.
