Re: Chase AA

I shifted CLs this morning with Chase and the rep I spoke to made it sound like a no big deal. I had $40k on my CSP, and I shifted 15k of it to my CSR so I would have even limits across them. My plan currently is to shift more later this year when I am able to PC the CSP to a Freedom, or whatever is best at that time.

I have read latetly that requesting the CL changes via secure message (SM) triggers a review, and some have reported AA becasue of it, but I point blank asked the rep before she did anything about that, and again, she made it out to be no big deal.

I did recently open a Macy's card but it was small limit compared to my exposire with Chase. I'm guessing something else spooked them?

Re: Chase AA

I recently transfered my Slate limit of $6200 to my Freedom Unlimited. The Slate was only 2 months old.

But I called and did it and it took 3 minutes to do the whole process. This was a few months back. No issues.

I had 18 EX inquiries in the past 15 months and 25 new accounts in the past 15 months. Only 5% UTI. Always pay my Freedom before statement cuts.

Moving limits always triggers a review. The method you use to do it makes no difference. Moving limits is basically a CLI. They're going to make sure your profile is in order before they grant the request.

Other times, they grant the request and a later review reveals things they aren't happy with.

Moving limits in and of itself isn't a big deal with Chase but if there's any reason for someone to believe their profile has issues (high util, lots of inqs, whatever) it's best to not put yourself under unneccessary attention.

So I triggered a review just this morning by moving limits? Or is there some process that happens when the rep activates that mode in her system, while I am on the phone with them?

Is there a chance I could log in later and see some form of AA?

(I would think not, since the only thing that has changed since I opened my CSR ,their last review of my file, is I added a new account, and a new inquiry to go with it...and my reported balances have gone down, not up)

I won't pretend to know the exact process but moving limits does trigger a review on some level. When the review happens -- whether it's instant or later -- I am not sure on.

AA is always possible, and doing things like moving limits can increase the chances because you're opening your account up for a review. But AA can occur at any time.

However, I would not be paranoid over it. Every time someone gets AA after xyz behavior, people tend to get paranoid about xyz. Just use your cards, pay your bills and deal with things if and when they happen.

Don't sweat it. Chase AA is like hitting the lottery. Unless you do something completely stupid.

Plan on it Smiley Wink

I'm not really paranoid, my file is good, and I have worked hard and smart to clean it up. Just hate reading about stuff happening with the banks I use...I typically breeze right by when I dont bank/use with certain institutions, but things like this catch my eye..

Sorry to hear about your AA. As with some lenders, it's not only about how you handle their cards but also your other cards with other lenders. Without getting all of the details regarding your profile, I suspect Chase did an AR and may have seen something in your profile that spooked them. The 2 reasons that come to mind is high utilization on other cards (80% or above and not paying down the balance over time) or you've opened a bunch of new account in short order. From your post, you don't have a bunch of new accounts so that's not it. I'm going to go with the first reason; high util on other cards perhaps?

My util isn't that high at all and everything is being PIF except for the one BT that I have been paying down for over a yearr which is now down to $390 where it was like 4k or something when I started so it cant be there. There is nothing in my profile that should have remotely spooked them.

I wouldn't mislead people. My score is like 810+ and I have been a chase customer for years and everything on my profile is in order with no negatives and they took AA on me., so it is NOT like hitting the lottery. There have been a lot of datapoints about this and in my case i'm wondering if its because the particular card they reduced wasn't getting used that much. I use the card but rarely do I got over 1k on it.
