@CreditCuriousity wrote:Sorry to hear what happened.. You going to call and ask for an explanation or for the few thousand to be reinstated or just let it be? Could be anything such as to much available credit with other lenders or many other things as other mentioned.. Weird though none the less as I have movoed limits around ALOT with chase and within the last few months as well and did PC's etc and my scores are no where yourss being i am way lower and i have alot more inquires etc. I have over 40k+ in credit with chase as well
What number do I call? My overall credit with chase is now less than it was before because I just closed the hyatt card so they got 11.7k back. This was closed at the time I moved limits over. I wonder if this was done by a computer. It seems really petty. Keep in mind I have 47k credit with chase across all my business/personal cards so its odd for them to freak out about the lowest limit card in my entire credit report.

Your entire credit limit with Chase is not reason and don't call yet. I have about $160,000 with Chase alone spread between personal and business so your limit is not the reason.
The reason I said don't call is to let some time pass. It is not your credit score and although the 810 score is a very good score, it is not what Chase relies on. How many Chase cards have you had open and closed? I remember a few times based on your threads created, you wanted retention bonus to keep a card open and did you do that with the any of the Chase cards?
Don't call and ask them to reinstate it yet. That can prompt them to close out all your credit lines completely. Something else prompted them to do this.

Moving limits always triggers a review. The method you use to do it makes no difference. Moving limits is basically a CLI. They're going to make sure your profile is in order before they grant the request.
Other times, they grant the request and a later review reveals things they aren't happy with.
Moving limits in and of itself isn't a big deal with Chase but if there's any reason for someone to believe their profile has issues (high util, lots of inqs, whatever) it's best to not put yourself under unneccessary attention.
So I triggered a review just this morning by moving limits? Or is there some process that happens when the rep activates that mode in her system, while I am on the phone with them?
Is there a chance I could log in later and see some form of AA?
(I would think not, since the only thing that has changed since I opened my CSR ,their last review of my file, is I added a new account, and a new inquiry to go with it...and my reported balances have gone down, not up)
Don't sweat it. Chase AA is like hitting the lottery. Unless you do something completely stupid.
I wouldn't mislead people. My score is like 810+ and I have been a chase customer for years and everything on my profile is in order with no negatives and they took AA on me., so it is NOT like hitting the lottery. There have been a lot of datapoints about this and in my case i'm wondering if its because the particular card they reduced wasn't getting used that much. I use the card but rarely do I got over 1k on it.
I do think lenders are starting to take usage more seriously. Many people have reported on recon with various lenders that lack of usage on existing card(s) became a problem in getting more cards. I thnk lenders are really catching onto people holding various cards but not really using them, just holding them for benefits. Of course, this just costs the lender money, so they aren't a big fan of it.
The less contact the better, for all of them. They could have been SPing you and that movement could have triggered something, who knows.
But always applying (inq), tweaking, moving or requesting CLIs I think draws attention towards you. It would have been better to just cancel, that little extra really meant nothing, IMO. You took the bait.......

I'm not misleading anyone. And it is like hitting the lottery.
Out of hundreds of thousands of accounts, how many do you think are hit with AA?

I agree with this, which is why I have never been in the camp of always requesting CLIs or APR reductions where they are not "really" needed. At any time it can trigger a review and find something they don't like (which maybe something you never saw as an issue) and any contact with a live rep costs money, decreasing your net profitibility to them.

I can't think of anything that would have prompted them to do this other than what KDM mentioned below about minimal use of the card. The only card I have closed with chase is the hyatt card. I kept that card for two years. I recently PCed an ink plus to ink cash (I have had the ink bold for a few years and pay AF on it). I kept the CSP for a year and downgraded to the CS like two years ago, but the CS actually can see $500-$600 a month of spend. Chase is on thin ice with me. I was about to start shifting almost all my spend over to them and was going to convert my CS to a freedom unlimited and use that card for all non-bonus spend. I may need to rethink my relationship with chase.

I would have just closed it had I know. The **bleep** CSR is the one who brought up moving the limits. I didn't call in and ask for that. I never request CLIs from Chase. This is the only time I moved a credit line with chase.

No you are using the wrong metric. We have seen a number of datapoints about this. You don't look at all Chase accounts. You need to look at people who moved limits. It seems like recently in moving limits its not uncommon for this to happen. I don't consider moving a credit limit to be completely stupid, although I can guarantee I will tell any future rep to not move any credit line on a card I am closing.

Never do what a CSR requests. You called to cancel and always continue on that path. To deviate can be a cluster.........
