Chase sapphire preferred or Wells Fargo propel

I posted this on another forum, but couldn’t get any response.
•Looking to get a card for my daily use. Hoping to build some points to get some cash back or gift cards.
•Don’t travel much
•Good credit.
•Don’t mind a small yearly fee.
•I already know all the sign up bonuses and a lot of the details with both cards. Just looking for some experienced advice on which would be the better card for my daily use.

Thanks!

Re: Chase sapphire preferred or Wells Fargo propel

What would you use it for?

If you don't travel much, neither card make much sense.

Just to get some cash back. Any recommendations?

If you don't travel much, get a 2% flat rate cash back card such as Citi Double Cash, Fidelity, PenFed Power Cash, Alliant, or PayPal.  Augment that with a card that gives 3% on dining such as the Chase AARP or the NFCU Go Rewards.  Take it a step further and get the Amex Blue Cash Everyday or the NFCU More Rewards for 3% on groceries.  Forget about travel cards.

Daily Carry: PenFed Power Cash • NFCU Flagship • NFCU More Rewards • Chase Freedom
Sock Drawer: PenFed Promise • NFCU cashRewards • Chase Sapphire Preferred • Chase Freedom Unlimited • United Explorer • UNFCU Azure

Re: Chase sapphire preferred or Wells Fargo propel

You can always just get one of the 2% cash back card, i.e., paypal cashback mastercard, or citi double cash.

If you are willing to spend a bit effort to manage card, pair the 2% card with 2 rotating 5% category cards, i.e., discover it and chase freedom.

Unless you are even more engaged in Point game, I would just stay away from Amex system, its all points game in there, and value isn't high if you don't use it on flight or hotels.

It would help if you let us know your current cards, what your scores are, and what your current spend is to make a solid recommendation. You said you don't travel much, so neither of those cards seem appropriate from the limited information provided.

Re: Chase sapphire preferred or Wells Fargo propel

Gotcha.
-Credit score should be around 760-815
-Main expenses will come from groceries and gas. Without putting a pen to it. I should be at around $2,000 a month on qualified purchase categorys.
-Again not looking to get into the multiple card game, but just looking for one card that will be everyday use and to acquire some cash back while doing so.

Re: Chase sapphire preferred or Wells Fargo propel

If you don’t travel much like others have said, get the double cash. Or if you spend over 13k/year get the alliant visa signature for 3% first year then 2.5 after that. $59 annual fee no FTF if you were to head out. They have better than others checking and saving rates too if you want.
