Citi Aadvantage Credit Limit question....

Does anyone know if any of the City Aadvantage Cards report a credit limit? I've been told the signatures do, not sure about the selects, or the AMEX Versions of these.

Thanks!!

Re: Citi Aadvantage Credit Limit question....

I believe all of the Citi Co-branded credit cards now report limits.   My AA Visa siggy does and I would expect the same from a Select card as well.

Re: Citi Aadvantage Credit Limit question....

Ok thanks, my friend is interested in applying and I was trying to point out the one that might help him out  the most.

As for approvals, do you know if either type, Select, Signature, AMEX, is an easier approval among the others?

Thanks! Smiley Happy

Re: Citi Aadvantage Credit Limit question....

personally I would go for the Visa Signature, if the app is credit qualified it will approve for that, if not their system will try to approve for one of the lesser AA cards (gold, select).

If they were looking at citi cards in general, maybe the standard platinum select or the lowest tier thank you card.

I do know from my recent experience Citi is becoming more inquiry sensitive.  I had 2 in 30 days (one from a CC app, the other a CU membership) and they denied me for the Diamond Preferred for too many inquiries.  45 days later I applied for it again and got approved for $6800 and the best tier interest rate 11.99%

Of course it all depends on credit profile, but for the AA cards I would think it needs close to a 700 for approval where the platinum select it can be as low as 650 from some of the approvals I've seen.

Re: Citi Aadvantage Credit Limit question....

Well, after looking into the card for my friend, I didn't realize they offer such great signup bonuses.  30,000 miles for spending $750 in the first 4 months, which gets you a Domestic Round Trip for free!

I went ahead and applied for the Aadvantage AMEX Select card ($85 AF wavied first year) and voila, Approved $7500 Limit @ 15% Interest... That now makes it my highest credit limit card not even expecting to app for!

Btw, my scores after being approved for Zync last week is just above 630, so you don't need a perfect score for this one.  Hope this helps someone who was interested, I'm excited to get my Free Roundtrip Ticket! Smiley Happy

I wish I had found your thread earlier.

There's actually a 75,000 mile signup bonus through Flyertalk. Good for a roundtrip flight to Europe.

As a cardmember, you’ll benefit from:
• 75,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after $1500 in purchases within the first 6 months of cardmembership
• $85 annual fee ($75 for the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Visa® card) waived for the first 12 months of cardmembership*

Unfortunately once you've applied for the regular promo through Citi's website, there's no way to have it converted over to the above promo.

A good rule of thumb is to always do a Google search on the card you want to apply for.  Usually there are better bonuses through other websites.  The actual card issuers website usually give you the most basic bonus.

American Express Blue Cash Everyday $6600
Barclays US Airways Premier World Mastercard $14500
Chase Sapphire Preferred $5000
Chase Freedom Visa $1000
Chase United Explorer $8500
Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select Visa Signature $7500
Citi ThankYou Premier World Mastercard $7500

Re: Citi Aadvantage Credit Limit question....

Wow, yeah you're right I should have done that...guess I'll know for next time.

Do you think if I follow the criteria for the 75k Bonus, by charginge $1500 instead of the $750 that I was told to do, and then give them a call, that I'll have any leeway??

I guess I should have done my homework a little better on that one....hmm I guess a call couldn't hurt?
