Wait. You are required to provide a doctor's note in order to get reimbursement? What are the requirements for said protection. I mean, what if you have a scheduling conflict and simply can not make the flight and or just change your mind.
If the only way to receive reimbursement is due to illnesses, then that's lame. I have the card and quite honestly did not even know it was a feature, lol.
Trip cancellation & interruption protection
Trip cancellation & interruption protection covers up to $5,000 per person, per trip of non-refundable expenses. Covered reasons for this include the following:
Illness or personal matters:
Travel or weather issues:
Far from Lame. Try finding another credit card with travel protection that comprehensive, thats an included benefit, with zero deductible.
If you plan to change your mind or don't feel like going on a booked trip, then you should purchase refundable tickets.

Thanks for posting the requirements. After reading all of that, I was right; it's lame. Sure, its nice to have the protection in case of illness, but having to go to a doctor and have him write a note for you, sounds like a little school kid. I get it, they have to protect themselves against fraud, but it does not negate the fact that its lame.

Well, that's how insurance works. You get into a car accident or your insured diamonds get stolen, you need a police report to file an insurance claim. You want to claim a life insurance policy, you need a death certificate.
Getting a doctor's note in order to cover you for a non-refundable ticket up to $5,000 doesn't seem all that unreasonable.
well I wish the trip insurance covered cancellations due to plan changes but unfortunately it doesn't. So in that case, the easiest alternative to be covered would be a doctor's note which is easy and painless to get if you have a personal/family physician. On the other hand, I really dont think they're asking for too much considering how much coverage your getting and to think u can still use the full value of the canceled ticket towards a future travel is a no brainer. Hell for almost $2k of free money back in my pocket, I'll gladly provide my blood samples if needed lol...
@pip3man wrote:So I had to cancel a flight I had paid for with my Prestige card. Unfortunately it was a non-refundable ticket so I assume y'all know how that goes. Decided to utilize my card's benefit, submitted documents they requested 3days ago and just now I got this email. Gotta love Citicards benefits... it rocks!!!
Very Nice, and good for you!!
