Citi Double Cash approval...have questions

I just recieved a citi double cash approval at 13.24% interest rate but only 4000 dollar SL. Is this not unusually low limit for someone with over 800 credit scores??? How good are they to do CLI!

Re: Citi Double Cash approval...have questions

No, it isn't unusually low. The DC is notorious for low starting limits.

That's about normal for them. You can try a soft pull in 6 months. If it's a small increase take another HP. Or you can call them for a recon and see if they'll raise it now. It could be a 2nd HP though. It took me 12 months to get anything out of them. My SL was $3000 with a higher APR, don't even know what it is. Since I always PIF. They CLI SP'd me $1400 after 12 months. I decided to take a HP and asked for $20k. They gave me exactly what I asked for. The card gets a ton of usage now. I'll ask for $30k in 11 months.

Very good with cli in my experience. My card started with...

Very good with cli in my experience. My card started with 0% for 18 months then 13.99%(14.24 post hike) and a 2400 limit. Took hp at approval for increase, denied. Scores were 700. Then 4-5 months later online did a sp cli denied, but phoned in and Rep approved it to 3800 total no hp.

Then after getting a 3x cli on Amex I wanted a higher limit on the DC, so I was seeing the option to get a sp cli online but it would not process (probably because it was less than 6 months!)

After a call to a senior analyst I was able to bypass the time limit, asked for 15k and was offered 10k since I had an increase so recently.

And also my SO was able to do they exact same thing but they didn't not have a hard inquiry!

I am excited for next month to see what sp cli they offer but I am very content with the card, limit, and everything now... And greatly looking forward to next spring to start asking them for Apr reductions!

Re: Citi Double Cash approval...have questions

Citi DC is reporting by countless users to have very low starting lines relative to profiles that typically get much larger.

Re: Citi Double Cash approval...have questions

Im nowhere near 800 but i got what seems like a typical low sl st judt $1200 . Took a hp recently to try for increase but no dice. Probably my profile right now plus only had for about 3 months so after my sadness/madness at wasting a hp, i realize that maybe they just need more time for me to show responsible use. Good luck OP, with your profile and score hopefully you can get what your looking for!!Smiley Happy

Re: Citi Double Cash approval...have questions

Not uncommon.  Did they already double pull eq/ex for the app?

You can get regular SP cli at 6mo increments but they may be small, probably less than 2k.  If you really want a higher limit call now and take another HP for an increase and request 20 or 25k.  I was approved at 6k and took additional HP after app to reach 15.. which is what I asked for I should have asked for more.  SP increases since then and I'm at 18.7 now.

+1

Very true. Don't know what the reason for it is, but limits are tough to come by on some of their cards, and for most, this is one of them.

Re: Citi Double Cash approval...have questions

Low starting limits for the DC has been mentioned numerous times on this forum, so it's not unusual even for someone with your scores. Some people have had success with getting CLIs at activation. It will be another HP.

I have found CITI to be very generous with HP CLIs. If you have a specific credit limit in mind you could try this route. Whichever you decide to do, best of luck to you.
