Yes, they stop affecting the score after 1 year, and fall off entirely after 2 years.

I doubt such endeavor would be successful. If the OP can justify the need for the Double Cash card and is confident of his/her chances, the decision is ultimately his/hers.
Chances are >0 and there is no real downside so why not?
