I have a Citicard Platinum Select MasterCard about 9 months old, 0%APR intro rate, "parking" $2k there while I pay it down on their dime.
I check the payment due date on the Citi website early every billing cycle as I prepare a spreadsheet, which I refer to all month as I schedule my bill pays. About every other month or so, the date they were showing at the beginning of the billing cycle has changed by the time I go online again to make the payment. On July 13, it said my due date was Aug 6, today I go to make the payment and it says Aug 4!! This is not the first month this has happened. I'm just glad I leave myself a few days of wiggle room.
I call to complain and ask for an explaination, of course they have none, the attitude was that I was "mistaken" (crazy). All they could say was they would monitor the acct to see if it happens again. I told them I had heard of this practice and believed it was done to trap people into late pays. Silence on the other end.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything a customer can do?

Dang. This is that nagging pain I've been having in the back of my head. I auto pay $60 in the middle of my statement, then PIF or max if I can't PIF by the due date. I really don't watch my bills at all, just balances. I just knew they would do that and somehow end up pricking me with a late charge. This sucks
Gotta make two payments every 1st and 15th of the month for an amount at least the minumum due. Us CC holders are so scamable.
If they offer, register for paperless billing. In this way you would get an email notifcation when the statement drops. Also register for paying them directly, rather than say Bill Pay. Most CCCs that offer direct pay would credit the payment the same day you make it as long as you pay by a certain time.
Magic----welcome to the forums!
Most credit card statements do fluctuate 2-3 days during a month. I have some that cut between the 14th and 16th and between the 29th and 31st.
Marty's advice is good. If you follow that, you should be fine.

No CC I have ever had changed the due date within a billing period like this. If OP can record screen shots exemplifying this he should make a huge deal about it. If documentable I would consider this serious scamming.

I agree with this. Sometimes the statement date on my accounts is a day or two different from month to month but the DUE date is always the same. In my experience at least.

+1
Many CCCs have statement dates and/or due dates that vary by 2-3 days month-to-month, but once the statement closes, and the new upcoming due date is posted on the website, it should never change. That is indefensible.
I have never seen it happen on any of my accounts, although it sounds like the kind of thing the old evil try-everything-in-the-book-to-trap-customers Providian might have done ...
