I've posted about this before but I figured I would ask again since I've read recent posts that might indicate somewhat of a loosening by Citi. How forgiving or unforgiving is Citi after you burned them?
More specifically, I burned Citi in 2016 for about 1,400. They sold it to a CA and I never paid that. It's off my reports now. When it was still on my reports, I contacts Citi's EO to try and get an EE due to the extenuating circumstances that caused me to burn them. The guy at the EO tried to look up my old account and he said they had no record that I even had an account. I found that odd.
what say you
Citi Bank is diligent when it comes to credit or loan defaults and they don't forget.

Generally I would say that Citibank is one of the least forgiving lenders. But since the guy at the EO could find no record of your old account, maybe you've got a clean slate with them.

So I shouldn't go for it? I'm buying some stuff here in the near future and just trying to grab a quick sub.
Oh bummer, I didn't realize they turned off their prequal tool.

Its been down for a few months now (just like Chase).
I'm inclined to think along the same lines as sj. Perhaps you may have a clean slate if they are not able to locate your previous account. One way to find out is apply. What really is an inquiry? Few points? More points are taken when new account appears. I say if it's something you want, try it. Just remember, city doesn't like recent account openings and many recent inquiries. That should be something for you to consider when judging your profile. Best of luck whatever you decide.

I'm just going to hold off with an app at this point. I do have quite a bit of recently opened accounts. Will probably wait a hot minute before I apply for anything else. Always chasing the point game though, my downfall.
OP, I burned them for a lot more than you did.
I have a $25k Home Depot card, $8k Costco card, and just got $14k DoubleCash card.

When did you burn them and how long before you got back in?
