Citi's approval algorithm

Two weeks ago I was approved for the CIti Platinum Select AAdvantage World MasterCard.

The initial SL and APR was $6,500 and 23.24%.

Over the past week I've gotten a few APR reductions (you can read more about that here) and a pretty substantial CLI.

The CL now sits at $11,500 and 16.24%.

I still haven't made a purchase with the card yet, which tells me Citi's approval algorithm is far from generous. I've nearly doubled my CL and lowered my APR by 7% in a week, with no major changes to my CR.

Has anyone else experienced the computer seemingly being stingy to this degree?

I've seen the opposite behavior from Citi reported in the past. People who were approvedm but not happy with the starting limits, and took another HP from Citi, just to be granted a measley $500 - $1000 increase.

That looks pretty solid to me considered you haven't used the card at all. I don't know any different since I don't have any real exposure with Citi other than HD. I'd be interested to see what others have come up with.

Re: Citi's approval algorithm

I have a TY Premier that was approved a $5000 CL back in 2015 and then auto CLIed to $7000 while using the card somewhat heavily (putting most everyday spendings on), but last month I checked to see if I get any chance to CLI and nothing. Meanwhile my Forward card got $1500 increase when I checked at the same time, I was not using that card a lot, almost sockdrawered during the entire 2017.
