Does citibank have some kinda rule similiar to 5/24 for cards that are not citibank? I am not asking about recently picked up citibank cards. I have not gotten a new citibank card in awhile, but I did pick up to two chase cards over the last six months bringing me to 5/24. I'm thinking about going for the AA card signup before it drops back down. Hopefully that card has no ftf so I can use it on an upcoming trip.
In terms of the IHG card from Chase how long after meeting the required spend before the SUB posts? I could probably rush to meet the spend now if it means I will get the SUB before I travel.
IHG was a few years ago for me but IIRC it posted pretty quickly.
I've heard reports of Citi rejecting otherwise strong profiles for even one very recent (as in, within a week or two) inquiry. Not sure how YMMV that is.

So are you saying that if I applied in the past week I am better off waiting to apply? Or are you saying that maybe I should hurry up and apply before the new card shows up on my file? Since you mentioned inquiry I am taking it that it is the prior.
Hmm looking at my credit report I don't see any recent hard pulls. Will chase do a hard pull on a new card app if you already have cards with them?
Citi is extremely inquiry/new account sensitive.
I hit their pre approval thing over the weekend, and was offered nothing.🤣
I've had lots of inqiries and new accounts within the past year.
Citi Legacy/retail are both new account sensitive although not sure what the threshold is. Opened up 3 cards in last 6 months I believe and denied both best buy visa(tried 3 moths ago)/AA(tried during weekend) (wanted those miles as well) with 820 score cited most recently on AA Card, 4 EQ HP's at time in last 2 years and two of those are mortgage related. Reasons for denial were all related to too many new accounts.

Yes. They've also been known to occasionally hard pull from 2 different CRAs.
Citibank is definitely new account/inquiry sensitive although there aren't well-known metrics like 5/24. I'd equate them to about the same as US Bank where more than one or two new accounts in past 12 months, depending on profile, might lead to a decline regardless of other factors. That's one reason I applied to them for the AAdvantage Executive card before other recent applications.
My most recent experience from a Chase SUB (INK Business Unlimited) posted the SUB when the statement balance cut after I had met the spend requirement.
Yes, Chase always hard pulls for new cards, even for existing clients. I've never had the double-pull that @coldfusion referenced but I've heard of it. They've single-bureau, hard-pulled EX on all seven of my applications with them since 2018.
Yes, if you're already 2/6 from new Chase cards, I would suggest waiting to apply with Citi. YMMV but that may be pushing it.

I just crossed over six months since one of the two chase cards. Problem is I can't wait too long because the SUB isn't gonna stay around. I also picked up a citibank credit card 3-4 months ago but that was a business card. For this purpose are they mainly looking at personal card apps or will they hold business apps against me as well. In the end if I want the SUB I'll just need to pull the trigger. Worst that can happen is another inq and a denial. Don't have any other cards I'm eager to go after anyway.

If I were you I'd spin the wheel and see what happens but that's me being me. With Citi their tolerance level is YMMV based on one's individual credit history and at one point it appeared that a reasonably firm best case was that one would have no more than 6 inquiries reporting over the last 6 months.
