After being approved for a CashWise Visa Signature for $6k, I decided to finally call and cancel my CreditOne and Merrick Bank cards! No more fees for me!
Surprisingly, I didn't get any grief or resistance from CreditOne. If it matters, I used the robo-selection for lost/stolen cards, and then they transferred me to the correct department. I read somewhere on here to do that, not sure if it made a difference or not.
Anyway, it feels so good to finally close those cards (CreditOne specifically; I never had any issues with Merrick, I just didn't want to pay a fee with nothing in return). I had been dreading calling CreditOne because of what I'd heard (read?) online about them! Thankfully it wasn't that difficult for me. Took maybe 15 minutes total to close both, including listening to the robo-instructions.

Good for you! I closed credit one myself but just because it wouldn't grow any. Mine didn't have any fees but it was bad enough I was tired of it. Good luck!

Congrats on the new CashWise approval and closing your annual fee rebuilder cards!
Movin' on up in the credit world! Keep it up!
Congrats, they've served their purpose. On to greener pastures.
Thank you, everyone! I cut them up a few hours ago, that felt equally as nice, too! ![]()
CreditOne started at $400 for me, then I got a limit increase to $550, probably 6 months later. Nothing since; I didn't want to ask for an increase & pay a fee; and they didn't have anything to offer me. Now that my other cards are all rewards cards, it was time for them to go!
Congrats on closing these accounts! I have to but always push it off. Good for you on getting something done.

Yeah, me too. I was going to close them back in February, then March, then April, but I procrastinated it until yesterday! Also partly because the Merrick account was $1400, so I wasn't sure if losing that amount would make a difference.
