Re: Closing cards HELP...

If none have fees then what I suggest you do is figure out which cards give you the most benefit and use those as your daily drivers and put the rest in the sock drawer. At some point, if you don't use your sock drawer cards, the issuer may close the accounts for none use for you and you will not have to decide.

Re: Closing cards HELP...

If you use them, keep them open. If you don't, close them. If you have a card that can get you better savings than another, close the one with less savings. Close the Target and get the 5% debit.

Re: Closing cards HELP...

Yeah it’s hard I try to use them all every 6 months to prevent closing and yeah I guess they will close for me since I don’t use and that does help me decide!

Merrick for sure. Too hard to tell you what others without knowing your feelings on each card. Cap One Platinum is a starter card.

Re: Closing cards HELP...

There's always been the close vs sock drawer debate, but I'm of the opinion that if the card isn't giving you any benefit, why bother keeping it open? You have plenty of accounts to choose from, so I don't see a need to keep ones that aren't giving you benefits.

My Citi Doublecash card is semi sock drawered. I charge a recurring $19.99 subscription through it and PIF immediately.

They are always sending me 0% APR for 12 months offers. While I could pay cash for *most* emergencies that could possibly come up, I would rather keep it in it's current interest bearing account and take up Citi on their offer. This is the only reason I don't close out any SD cards with no AF.

You didn’t really provide enough detail for us to give detailed instructions, but generally, I would close the store cards and pay attention to how the account ages will effect your credit score.
