Hey! Congrats on the new credit!

I was really just posting to say I like your name, and it keeps making me hum the codemonkey song.

Hey, thanks. Gotta love that song. Smiley Happy

To bring this at least somewhat back on-topic - it appears that my winning streak is over! I just spoke with B of A and got the negative on a CLI for my new $5k Visa Signature.

They said that they weren't able to see any other credit cards with comparable limits reporting for me yet (my $11k PremierPass doesn't report a limit, and I haven't combined my AT&T and Diamond Preferred into one card yet - when I do that will sit at $13k), and that I should call back at a later date once that starts reporting.

Oh, well. Smiley Happy Combining the lack of a CLI with the fact that apparently I need a B of A checking account to make an online balance payment, I suppose this one is going to get the dreaded "$12 in use a month" treatment for the time being.

I will say the credit analyst I spoke with wasn't rude at all; quite friendly and she actually seemed a bit apologetic for the decline, and sounded quite concerned to make sure I'd call back and ask again once those new limits start reporting.

Anyway, hopefully someone finds some of this stuff useful!

I'm done credit hunting for the foreseeable future - time to start mending my scores after all those hard inquiries, heh.

Final tally from my "spree":

AmEx Blue - $1,400 CL (original)
AT&T Universal Card - $8,000 CL (reactivated/new)
B of A Visa Signature - $5,000 CL (new)
Citi PremierPass Elite - $11,000 CL (new)
Citi Diamond Preferred - $5,000 CL (new)

So in about two weeks or so it looks like I netted $29,000 in new credit.

And now - the FICO-rebuilding begins! Smiley Surprised

Hah! I knew there was a reason I liked you, cheddar. Smiley Happy

I was actually thinking about going the PhD route and becoming a philosophy professor - long story short, a very bad person did some very bad things to a family member of mine, and now I'd I think I'd rather spend my life sending equally bad people to jail where they can't hurt anyone else.

Always cool to see people with similar backgrounds, though - makes me feel like I'm not quite so crazy, what with the mildly schizophrenic educational and career paths since college.

Yep, although I know a lot of people who have a degree that's totally unrelated to what they do for a living.  Still, it is kind of odd to have a degree in a humanities subject and work in a technical field.  BTW, they say that philosophy majors do better in law school than any other major, so you've got that going for you.

In regard to your later post with your new cards and CLs:  Congrats!  Those are some great cards and some great limits.

Just one point though.  You don't need a BofA checking account to pay your BofA card online.  You just need to wait until the first statement cuts, and then you'll be able to set up an external account to pay from.  It threw me for a while, too, when I first got my card, but now I pay my BofA card from my WaMu checking account regularly without a hitch.

Ah, crap!

All the reading I did suggested the only way to pay a balance with an external account was to transfer funds into a B of A checking account and then make the payment from there.

Went ahead and opened one because I wanted to make sure I had everything all set to go to make a payment before I put charges of any kind on the card.

Ah well. Maybe someday I'll find some use for the spare account - not too likely since I do most of my banking at WaMu as well - but here's hoping I guess. Smiley Tongue

Thanks for the info regardless! Glad to know I can skip all the transfer-juggling. Definitely raises my estimation of the card's usefulness factor a little bit.

Ahh, sorry to hear.  That probably cost you a hard inquiry, too.

If you're ever in doubt, this is the place to come with questions like that.  Someone virtually always has an answer! Smiley Wink
