that is known as stoozing! :-) also, I'd say akin to buying stocks on margin with exponentially less risk!!!
Nice thread heyryan with solid information. Thanks for starting it.
Probably my last update unless something goes hinky with them in the future
First full month just closed - $10+ in interest - not bad to start ATM fee was reimbursed w/ no issue when month closed, too.
I did chat with them online today and did a cash advance to my checking account for $2500. I'll earn ~$10/mo in interest on that and the interest is about $4.15, so $6 extra. Not much, but it's something It showed up almost immediately on the card and in my account, so it was really an easy process. I could have done it in online banking, but I wanted to make sure the promo rate was applied.
Had a little hiccup with my credit card. I hadn't received it after almost 2 weeks, so I called in and it turned out that when they copied my address into the credit card system, they cut off part of my unit #. (I'm in a condo) Our mailman sucks, so I didn't get the card. They were really nice and canceled that one and expedited me a new one via FedEx for free. (After fixing the address
Also, for external transfers, you have to meet the rewards requirements for 2 months in a row, not just 1 for them to be enabled. I'm not worried as I most everything through Alliant anyway, but it's good to know just in case.
For other CCU members:
Is it normal for the tracker on the website to COMPLETELY reset every month? For example, mine now says:
VISA: NO
E-Statements: NO
when both should be YES. They were correct yesterday, but changed today. Seemed odd - obviously the debit counter, CC spend, and DD/ACH reset like expected, but the others caught me off guard.
Other than that - still very happy with the choice to join!

I guess I lied in my last post - I have one more update to share!
Overall, I've been very happy with CCU, but I did have another minor issue with their Visa dept entering incorrect info. When I got the card, I emailed the person I was working with and she told me that my APR would be 12.24% (their lowest). I got my first statement today, and I had a 16.something% APR. When I called to ask why, the first rep said "Hmm, that's odd, I show it should be 12.49% (prime rate went up 1/4%), not 16. Let me get in touch with the Visa department." Well, when they called back, they'd assigned me the wrong APR, and it should have been the 12.49. I'm glad I checked ... I don't plan on leaving purchase balances on there, but it would've been an unpleasant surprise!

I see no lies - 4% higher-than-promised APR qualifies as hinky!

So I joined in the fun as well. For debits, I just reloaded my Amazon balance with 50c transactions (well, sometimes 51c for variety) twice a day for 6 days. The slow updating of the counter was annoying, but now I know I will just count the transactions myself and "know" it will show 12 in time. No issues so far, and I liked that they gave me interest for the last few days of Feb before my debit card had arrived.

Did that work? I tried that when I joined a few years ago, and it didn't. I'd be excited to know this is an options now

I do the same thing - varying between 0.49 and 0.69. Counter updates within a day or 2, and works great! Just make sure after you add your card in Amazon, you go edit it and uncheck the box that says to run as Debit. The icon should change from "DEBIT" to "VISA" - if you don't do that, the transactions won't count.

Ok ... definitely did not uncheck any boxes, thanks for the tip!
