Converting AMEX

I just received my AMEX Delta Gold Skymiles and called to make to convert to the Blue Cash Card. Upon speaking with the representative to activate, she said I would need to talk to someone that processes new accounts.. soo she transfered me to them... I spoke to someone else and they told me that I couldnt convert to a different card, that I could apply for the BLue Cash card, but not convert. I promptly got off the phone with her and figured I would post on here and get some input as to how I should go about doing this ... ?!?!?!?! SHould I activate this card first and then call back to customer service and inquire about converting ? Most likely I will get a different rep on the phone who might be more familiar with doing this !?!?!?! Can anyone give the the proper "procedure" for making this an easy transaction ?

Re: Converting AMEX

Amex may have been reading here too. dont know what causes em to convert or not convert.  MAybe the spate of new requests to convert (generated here Smiley Very Happy) has caused them to hold off on conversions.  Keep the card six months and see if its possible then.

Re: Converting AMEX

I just called back, directly to Customer Service Rep and she took care of it without a problem. She did call it a "Product Change"

without hesitation she changed it to a Blue Cash account,,, and my new card will be processed and out to me in the next billing period.

BOUNUS ! Couldn't have done it this easy without the help of the forum,,, THANKS ALL ! !

Re: Converting AMEX

They really must be on to us.  I just tried to change my Platinum Delta Skymiles card (not activated yet) to the Blue Cash card, and they said it was not an option.  They said they are 2 totally different products, and I would have to apply for the new card.

I called 2 times in hopes of getting someone that was willing to do it, but it was not to be.  I am always just a little late.  Such is life.

Re: Converting AMEX

John, call on monday morning when you can speak to a CSR in United States and not the filipines or india or whatever. Tell CSR that you want a product change to a no annual fee card. Such as... Blue, Blue cash or whatever. You must have at least $2,000 of CL for an AMEX Blue.

call this number: 1-800-430-1000 and press 0

AMEX does not care about our forum. They read, sure....but do you know how many paper pushers there? before they start tightning the screws it would have taken years.Smiley Wink
