I believe any inquiries for the purpose of an auto loan would count as one inquiry, so long as they were done within a 14 day period.

I was under that impression, but thought I would double check.  Thanks!

Re: Crapitol One

Well I just gave it a shot.  I had a pre-approval for Discover and still got the "we will get back to you in 5-7 days".  Any suggestions or should I go ahead and call to discuss with an analyst?

Re: Crapitol One

I called today and got approved, but for only $1,500.  O well.  I tried to get them to give me $3,000 but she said they will consider after 6 months.  Too much new credit.  I guess I will just use the new Discover card and let the wife use the Crapitol One so we can get double cash back.

Did the automated line let you know it was approved or did you need to speak to a rep?

I believe the inquiries only count as 1 in regards to affecting your FICO score.  I *think* lenders can still see the total number of inquries.

Re: Crapitol One

yeah i agree with capital one being sucky with CLIs.  i've had my card with them for over two years.  although limit is only $500, i've used it each month since i've got it.  of course i've been really good at paying my monthly.  although my minimum monthly payments has always been $15, i have always paid $100 every bill and way before the due date.  usually each month i'll have a balance rolling over to the next month in the $100-$150 range.  but considering that i've been a good customer with a really good payment record, i would've thought they would give me a CLI at least once a year even if it's just $50.

so i applied for a discover card recently and got approved for $1500 CL.  i then requested a balance transfer to get balance paid off on my capital one card.  got a 0% offer for 6 months, but not worried, i can get it paid off in two months.  so now, i will just use my discover and my bbrz mc all the time.  maybe just use my cap one credit card to buy a couple of bags of chips each month just so there's activity on it.  even though im new to the discover family, the few times i've called them regarding my card, they've been really easy to talk to.

Yes I did.  I should get the $100 cash back within a month...  We will buy all our groceries and gas on the card to earn cash back.  With three kids, that does not take long!  The whole purpose of getting the Discover was to hopefully get a higher CL, at least it is $500 more than the Capitol One.  I want to send a message to Cap. One, so I am going to pay it off and not use it for about two months.  Hopefully that will intice them to give me a CLI.  I am done with my apps spree.  I now have Cap one - $1,000, Chase - $2,500, 2 - HSBC (Sears - $750 and Orchard - $500), Macy's - $5,000, JC Penny $1,900 and Discover $1,500.  I will wait until Christmas time and am thinking of getting a AMEX.
