Very sorry to hear about your troubles...I'd be chewing the rug myself with that treatment. Now you know why Credit One is looked upon with such disfavor here. On the bright side, now that you've established a credit history, you should be able to get a better card or two once you've done some shopping around...
Hi, Auventera. One of the most satisfying moves I made in rebuilding was closing my Credit One card. I never had any issues with them, either, and it was still satisfying. If you have other cards, then you might consider closing it down! ![]()
Seriously what are your scores..
Credit One is upset they know your going to leave them after the first year.. so they are trying to make it difficult for you.
Why dont you make it easy for them.... where are your scores.... have you tried prequalifying for other cards... or considered adding a secured card from a better bank or credit union?
Let us try to steer you into freeing the albatross thats hanging on your neck...
I have a feeling youll be able to cancel if you fill us in with more details and move onto greener pastures
Most folks can move onto Cap One (oftentimes even if they are burned).. and can prequalify... though the three pulls kinda sucks.. their prequalify is pretty good
Discover secured is another option im fond of...
Lets move on up... you dont have to put up with this shenanigans anymore...
Every time a Credit One or First Premiere (or other subprime predatory bottom feeder) is closed, an angel gets its wings...

Consider yourself lucky! You did not want another credit card with that predatory lender! Just close out the card and call it a day.
This is your perfect opportunity to close this account. I hate you applied and wasted a HP....time to move on to bigger and better things...blessing in disguise....![]()

Thank you everybody!! My only known FICO8 is with TU at 603. VS3.0 scores are all roughly around 595.
I have the capital one quicksilver $1500 limit and Platinum $1000 limit.
I don't need credit one anymore! So I should just pay off and close?? Thank you!!!
I would, yes. Close the Credit One and let the Cap1 cards age for 9 months or so with good on-time payments. After that you should be able to get most mid-tier cards.
With those two cards in hand with nice starting limits I would. Credit One eats at one's soul if it's not cut off lol.
