Credit One "Wander" ?

So this popped up when I signed out of Experian... Seems to be a watered down version of Cap One's Savor One.

Evidently Credit One is officially marketing to those with higher scores according to this as well. I'd never heard of this before and the rewards are sleep.gif, but I figured I'd share anyways.

Are we next to see a Credit One Visa Signature? crazy.gif

Re: Credit One "Wander" ?

I wonder if they will start to issue cards with higher limits. What's the highest CL you've seen with them? I can't recall hearing of cards with more than 5-6k limits or so, but I could be mistaken. Interesting reward structure on that one though!

Re: Credit One "Wander" ?

As many have stated that these types of advertisements are just that, marketing...it is interesting that the offer states it requires "great to exceptional" credit but has an APR of 23.99.  If someones' credit is exceptional, why would someone want a card with 23.99% APR with Credit One?

Recently I saw someone post about getting a Credit One Amex with a $5K limit. As far as this card, I had never heard of it until the ad popped up but it appears they're aiming towards those of us who can easily grab cards from the likes of Chase, Amex, BoA, Citi, USB, etc. and will ultimately require at least $20K+ CL's if they want to take swipes away from the banks that already cater quite well to the 760+ Fico 8 crowd with deep pockets. Not to mention the Credit One will need to rebrand itself from being a solely sub-prime issuer to the masses. Capital One plays in both sandboxes, so this is entirely possible... But they're still quite a ways from Cap One status as of now. If Credit One begins to allow PC's and doesn't bucket their cards, they'd be on the right track though.

I am curious what would happen if one of the MyFico *Ballers* put an app through... Anyone down to take one for science? grin.gif

Yeah, I get that it's all marketing. What makes it interesting to me is *who* they're marketing to!

Honestly, I haven't heard of any of the big banks kicking out any stellar APR's on their rewards cards either. This is why we PIF every statement.

Re: Credit One "Wander" ?

I'm preapproved for all those cards, IIRC I apped for the Amex and there was no HP, I cancelled it immediately after because I didn't see the AF (my fault) and they never reported it. I would pull the trigger but I'm weary on the credit lines.

You wonder if all of their products are asset backed securities like Cap1 bucketed cards and sub-prime products from other lenders. They may have to reinvent their internal lending practices to start handing out cards with usable limits. I'm not an expert on the inner workings of lending however, so I don't know what bearing any of that really has in the grand scheme of things. After browsing through thier current card offerings, it appears they also offer that Wander card as a 'premium' version with a 5% return rather than 3%. The 5% version has a $95 AF. They also have other cards with interesting 5% reward structures on multiple categories which also have a $95 AF. For certain people that wouldn't qualify for traditional 5% offerings, they could actually be fairly beneficial.
