Curve declines / coding gas

For those with a Curve credit card:

1. Has anyone else been experiencing declines recently, around the past month or so?

Curve has been very reliable for me, including while traveling, only having one decline in almost a year - until this past month, where I have seen at least four declines. There isn't any pattern - one was online, one by chip, one by tap (plus one unknown, at a restaurant). With the online instance, I used the Custom Cash that it was assigned to immediately after and it went through. Not a credit limit issue, no cards expired, can't think of anything. There was even a time at a brewery where it was accepted for the food but then declined for the cans to go.

Another odd thing is that the charge immediately appears on the intended account used followed by a credit for the same amount:

Also, for two of the declines at restaurants, the server was very puzzled, saying they had never seen that type of decline before. I should have asked what the system was saying, but both called the reason for decline "weird."

2. Is there a good way to use Curve for gas?

I seem to remember gas purchases going to different categories, whereas dining has reliably coded as Food & Drink for me. I stopped trying a while ago and have been meaning to ask: Which category or categories are best to capture gas purchases?

I wish I had more to offer, but the last few months my Curve card has been working as intended (both online and in-person).  That said, I admit I limit my use to only those times where a decline wouldn't really matter.  (By that I mean both not embarassing if in-person, and minimal rewards lost if the purchase is shifted to 'Curve Credit', which has annoyingly happened a couple of times for no reason.)

It's a rather oddball product to begin with, and now that it's closed to new customers and customer service seems to be even more minimal than before I figure it's just a matter of time before they pull the plug on the U.S. market (ex. Blispay).

Thank you @UncleB, appreciate your reply. I didn't realize they were closed to new customers, definitely not a good sign.

I found a Reddit post from two weeks ago on this subject. The op and one commenter both mention the issues being most prevalent with Citi cards, which has been my experience as well. One also mentions the declines coming in waves, which has also been my experience.

My recent experience echoes one of the comments - I started bringing the card(s) I'd want the charges on just in case, then since they're with me and Curve might get declined I just use the other card(s) anyways, so more often than not I haven't been bringing Curve with me.
