Yes good point almost forgot about them
I had a small business and AMEX fee was almost double of VISA/Master
Thats why I never open AMEX they really hit small businesses hard with their fees
sorry this is off topic but earlier government bail out came up
In terms of Bail Out
Of course Federal Reserve and IRS has to take care of big banks
If we all dealt in cash how would they collect so much sales and income taxes
Credit Card Transactions are probably the best Tax collecting help for IRS

Yeah BoA usually calls first to see whats up. I've heard that a few times. Chase rarely (if ever does) and Amex just FR's you. But they were all very happy to take our bailout money!!!LOL - Bailout Money -
BOA is really only useful because they are on every darn corner! I have never wanted any sort of credit with them but have used them for some banking out of sheer convenience but as the world is transitioning to online - that is becoming WAY less critical.
+1
Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!

You can bank with local banks and CUs and have good relationship with them
but when you do mortgage lending or Business Loan with them
They will sell your loan to top 4 banks without you knowing
You still make payments to local banks but Actuall money came from the top 4
This is the truth
Love them or hate them but You still have to do business with them unless You have loads of cash and don't need any credit

Sorry maybe I shouldn't say this.. but I gave you kudo for this post because it made me laugh.. not sure why and I surely am sorry for what happened to you.. I guess I would be more careful myself.. I just recently got a card from them.. I don't love chase (at least not yet..) I just wanted to grab their money (sign up bonus).. if it makes you feel better, I most likely SD the card after i obtain that 200 since I really like discover a lot more for some reason and they are pretty similar really..

Freedom is only better if you have CSP i think freedom and discover are pretty similar. i guess another thing that makes freedom better is visa is accepted almost everywhere while discover isn't
Definitely you should call them to figure out what the reason was behind them closing your accounts. As unfair and unjust it seems, you're a customer so keep in mind that they're going to go out of their way to help you from a business standpoint. Figure out what the situation was and why they did what they did.

My comment about bailouts was intended to lighten the mood, but go ahead and analyze away
