well, been wanting to get the delta amex or hilton surpass (would get good use of them) but have been denied the last 4 attempts. This has been in a period of an 8 month span. Everytime the reason has been because of low fico score (usually have it in the low 700s), INQs and account balances. Completely understand the INQ (have over 30 in the last 2 years with most being in late 2012-mid 2013). The last time attempted was in late Dec. of last year. I have added 2 INQ since then, 4 in the last 7 months total. I know its a SP if denied but dont want to seem desperate. Will it raise a red flag if i try for the 5th time? or should i wait a couple of more months. Will be flying down to central america in march and like the delta direct flight there. Dont really care that much about the Surpass but i heard they tend to be generous. Also would help my AAoA since it will be backdated to 1995. My utilization is at 10% right now with 4 new accounts in the last 6 months. My AAoA is 3yrs 10 months.
You might want to let the accounts age and create more time between inq's but I apped for the regular hilton hhonors last was approved. My scores are in the 720-740 range and my AAoA is only 3yrs. It is just a SP if denied so IMHO it's worth a shot.
If you're to go for Delta Plat, you should do it before end of May as their AF just raised from $150 to $195. I know AMEX probably will come out w/ better sign up bonus offers throughout the year (better than current), so it's up to you if you want to pull the trigger or wait until the better offers come out.

thanks for the input cs, i guess its not so much the denial which i would be ok with, its more of them not liking me attempting to app for the card so frequently. I would just hate to have to book a flight that would have to take me from vegas to either houston or altanta to get to central america. I would much rather just drive to L.A and take a red-eye nonstop flight to my destination on Delta, but i guess if it cannot be done it canno then....lol

The best thing anyone can do when denied is to take care of all the problems on the denial letter before applying again. So, since your utilization is at 10%, I say let your inquiries age so all are at least a year old, and then apply. Wasting inquiries is, well...a waste.... The best of luck to you.
What is your utilization like?
thank you all for your input...since its a SP i will try one more time. If declined i will leave it alone for a good 4-6 months and try again.
Always PIF for my current AMEX cards...overall utilization 10%
